"The two of you are also twin sisters. And you wrote two essays like twins. The two essays describing the Phu Quoc seascape are almost identical in terms of ideas, introduction, body, conclusion, and use of words and images. I asked you two why. You had to tell me that you went to Google and used the Chat GPT support tool," Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, a second-year student majoring in primary education at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, who is currently a tutor for primary school students, shared with Thanh Nien Online reporter this morning, November 8.
Cannot copy from GPT Chat to my essay
The story Phuong Thao cited is a familiar example in today's school life. Technology greatly supports students' learning, but if abused, it will be a "double-edged sword" that causes students to gradually lose their ability to think, reason, and be creative.

Phuong Thao said that as a tutor, she advises students to consider Google and Chat GPT as a reference tool, but not to copy ideas, sentences, or expressions from the solutions on them to make them their own.
"The 2018 General Education Program is currently very 'open'. For example, in the writing section, 4th and 5th graders are allowed to write according to their abilities and personal feelings. Teachers are looking forward to receiving essays that are each student's own creation. The sentences may be a bit naive and the structure may not be tight, but they must be the students' own, not stereotyped, and all essays must be similar," said a female student majoring in primary education.
This morning, November 8, eTeacher Tutoring Company organized the 2024 Tutor Meeting. This annual event is held on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, to honor promising, inspirational tutors who have made many contributions and helped students make many positive changes.
Every tutor also has to make efforts in the development of technology.
Tutors share their work journey
Here, many tutors share their experiences, joys and sorrows in the teaching process. For example, tutor Mac Thi Thu Trang, currently a second-year student majoring in primary education at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that before becoming a home tutor for students, she talked and discussed with students to make them feel more comfortable. Then, when she knew what knowledge the students were lacking, the tutor would easily help them "catch up" with the knowledge in class.
Or tutor Mai Thi Song Uyen, an English language student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT), has been a tutor for 4 years and won the 2024 inspirational tutor award, saying that the teaching journey gives you countless experiences. Each student has a story, tutors are not only people who support additional knowledge, but in a certain perspective, they are also friends, giving students advice at important times.

Small contributions for big change
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy Sang, a former tutor and co-founder of eTeacher, said that for many students, tutoring may just be a part-time job during their 4-5 years of university study, to earn extra income and gain experience. However, with the knowledge, sincerity, and effective teaching methods of tutors, they can create great changes, turning points in the lives of many students.
Tutors also need to "transform" in the technology era. According to Phuong Thao, when technology is constantly developing, every primary education student like her must also strive to not fall behind. However, according to Phuong Thao, even in the digital age, the pedagogical capacity of a teacher, the role of a teacher who talks, accompanies, and inspires learners to understand and find "their own path" will never be replaced.
