World oil prices today June 29, 2024
In the world market, gasoline prices today, June 29, increased and decreased in opposite directions.
Oil prices ended the last trading session of this week and also the last of June with mixed movements as investors considered weak fuel demand in the US. In addition, some investors taking profits also affected oil prices.
According to data from Oilprice, at 8:23 a.m. on June 29 (Vietnam time), Brent oil price was listed at 86.41 USD/barrel, up 0.02% compared to the previous session. In contrast, WTI oil price was at 81.54 USD/barrel, down 0.24% compared to the previous session.
Oil prices rose on growing expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will soon cut interest rates. A Fed rate cut could boost demand for oil, which would benefit prices.
In addition, oil prices increased due to concerns about supply disruptions due to increased geopolitical pressure in the Middle East and Europe while US gasoline and oil inventories unexpectedly increased.
Escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah have raised fears of a widening conflict that could draw in other countries, including major oil producer Iran.
A report from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that the country's oil inventories in the week ending June 21 increased by 3.6 million barrels, contrary to analysts' predictions of a decrease of 2.9 million barrels. US gasoline reserves last week also increased by 2.7 million barrels.
However, limiting the price increase of "black gold" is caution due to fluctuations in the USD, which is at a two-month high, along with political instability in France.
