Today (September 16), the press conference and draw for the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament - a tournament jointly organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor , and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for the third consecutive year - will take place in Ho Chi Minh City.
Many doctors and nurses put on their shoes and went out into the field.
Talking to Tuoi Tre , Mr. Vu Anh Tuan - Vice President of Vietnam Health Trade Union - shared that participating in the tournament for the first time is not only an opportunity for union members and health workers to exchange, learn, improve their physical and mental health, but also an activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day as well as the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2.
And the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine is the focal point gathering players from many units such as Hanoi Medical University and the Central Acupuncture Hospital. "The team members participating for the first time include teachers, doctors, technicians, and nurses from units in the health sector.
Everyone is given the best conditions to practice and train their health to participate in the tournament with the goal of going the farthest. This tournament has been given great attention by the leaders of the units, discussed and exchanged early, and encouraged, creating conditions regarding working hours so that everyone can be most mentally comfortable in order to demonstrate their best skills on the field and spread the spirit of exchange and connection," Mr. Tuan expressed.
Representing about 60,000 union members in the entire health sector, the team considers this an opportunity for members to share experiences and careers, create beauty in sports, and spread the spirit of health training in the units where the players participate. When the results of the draw are available, the team will carefully study the opponents to have the most suitable strategy.

Festival of workers and civil servants nationwide
Speaking to Tuoi Tre , Mr. Nguyen Tan Khanh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation and Head of the Dong Nai 1, 2, 3 Labor Unions - said that all three teams mainly come from three large companies in the area. In addition, there are other potential players from a number of grassroots unions, ensuring a deep force for the long journey of the tournament.
"We participate in the tournament with the highest spirit of readiness. The goal is for athletes to have a fun and useful playground after work, thereby strengthening the relationship between grassroots unions and union members.
Through the discussion, the players were all excited, enthusiastic, and prepared in good health and mood for the upcoming matches. The companies and grassroots unions all supported and created full conditions in terms of material and regime. This included arranging suitable working hours so that the players had time to practice techniques and tactics, connecting the links in the team," said Mr. Khanh.
With over 720,000 union members and 2,400 grassroots unions in the province, Dong Nai Trade Union hopes that the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament will be a useful playground, spreading the spirit of health training, enhancing understanding and solidarity among workers. In the long term, the tournament will promote local grassroots tournaments, forming many football teams and playgrounds for workers, especially young people.
Meanwhile, Mr. Le Tan Minh - Chairman of the Danang Port Trade Union - said that the port's football team was very excited and honored to represent the Vietnam Maritime Trade Union in participating in the tournament. According to Mr. Minh, because it is a direct production and business unit with a large workload day and night, the team had some difficulty in gathering athletes who were workers in the port.
"However, the company's leadership and the union are very concerned, encouraging and supporting the players to have more time to practice and adjust their working hours. They support the regime, allowances, and receive full salary when taking time off work, ensuring the most comfortable and confident spirit to participate in the tournament," Mr. Minh expressed.
According to Mr. Minh, the football tournament for workers and civil servants of the trade union organization is a good opportunity for workers to interact, make friends, exercise, and relieve work pressure.
The 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament is sponsored by Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO); Dong Luc Sports Group; HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company; Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company; Sunshine Group; Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO); Faslink Fashion Connection Joint Stock Company; 108 Central Military Hospital; 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.
The tournament announcement press conference will take place on September 16. This will be followed by the Northern regional qualifiers, which will take place over three days from September 26 to 28; the Southern regional qualifiers, which will take place from October 9 to 12. The tournament will conclude with the national finals in Ho Chi Minh City from October 24 to 26.
Waiting for surprises from the rookies
The teams participating for the first time promise to create surprises for the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, including notable names such as Le Bao Minh and Searefico.

Regaining the glory
Although being a rookie in the tournament, Le Bao Minh Company's team is not a strange name in the amateur football world as they have participated in many tournaments since 2005. Notably, they won the Ho Chi Minh City B futsal championship in 2015.
Sharing the reason for participating in the tournament, Mr. Dao Quang Toi - head of the football team - said: "The tournament gathers the staff of enterprises, there is no professional element in it. That creates a fair playground for business brothers to connect and compete happily with each other", Mr. Toi said. This is the reason why Le Bao Minh team decided to return after a long absence. He also hopes that this year's tournament will be a boost to revive the spirit of sports in general and football in particular in the company.
Le Bao Minh's team is a gathering of brothers from many departments such as business, engineering, warehouse delivery, and branch managers across the country. "In preparation for the tournament, many brothers from Nha Trang, Phu Yen, and Da Nang branches will also gather in Ho Chi Minh City to join forces. The company will fully facilitate 100% of the brothers to compete. The company will cover all travel and accommodation expenses. When the team wins the prize, the company will also deduct an equivalent bonus to encourage the brothers," Mr. Toi shared.
Despite careful preparation, Le Bao Minh's team still set a modest goal. "We just want to be on the field to interact and play to connect, not to focus on results. The team's goal is to compete, learn, and if we can get past the group stage, it will be a great success." Currently, the team has resumed training to prepare for the qualifying round in Ho Chi Minh City in the middle of next month.
Interesting unknown
In contrast to the long history of Le Bao Minh's team, Searefico Company's team was established in early 2025. The team's members are mainly office staff, participating for the first time in such a large and prestigious playground.
Mr. Huynh Le Hoang Dat, the team leader, said: "We participate in the tournament with the main goal of allowing our teammates to compete and learn from experience. This is also a good opportunity to promote the company's image to many other units. The company's leaders have arranged and created all favorable conditions for you to participate in training and competition in the coming time."
Searefico, with many young players competing for the first time in a major tournament, is considered an interesting unknown, promising to bring a breath of fresh air to the tournament.
The presence of rookie teams like Le Bao Minh and Searefico will make the tournament more unpredictable and attractive.
