Trade Union takes care of Tet 2026 for workers and laborers

In addition to giving Tet gifts of higher value than last year, one of the new highlights in the program to care for union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026 is to organize a "Union Year-end Dinner" at the grassroots Union level.

Increase gift value, increase vouchers for Tet market of Trade Union

The Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) discussed the Plan to organize activities to care for union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026.

Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, said: The organized activities must demonstrate the mark and role of the Trade Union organization in taking care of the material and spiritual life of union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026; overall, the resources and subjects of Tet care must be larger than in previous years.

Accordingly, at the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor level, visits and gifts will be organized to union members and workers in difficult circumstances and with low incomes. The estimated expenditure is from 1.3 million VND/person, including 1 million VND in cash and 300,000 VND in gifts.

Leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will attend the Tet Sum Vay programs and the Trade Union Year-end Meal organized at grassroots Trade Unions. In addition, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will organize the 2026 Spring Trade Union Tet Market program directly in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City; organize the 2026 Spring Trade Union Tet Market program online on the program's official website, giving away 300,000 vouchers, each worth 500,000 VND to union members and workers (an increase of 100,000 vouchers compared to 2025).

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will continue to organize buses, trains, and flights to take workers working in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Tay Ninh back to their hometowns (in the North) to celebrate Tet.

At the provincial and municipal labor federations, central industry unions, economic group unions, and general corporation unions, the program of Tet reunion will be organized; visits, gifts, and New Year greetings will be given to union members and workers; buses, trains, and flights will be organized to take workers home to celebrate Tet. From the financial resources of their level, mobilize socialized resources and financial resources of the general confederation.

At the grassroots level, the grassroots trade union will organize a Tet reunion program; visit and give Tet gifts to union members and workers; organize buses, trains and flights to take workers home to celebrate Tet.

In particular, this year there will be a new point in that the Union will organize a "Union Year-end Dinner" for the Year of the Horse 2026 with a value of 70,000 VND/meal from the Union's financial resources, plus support from businesses, local authorities or socialization (if any, with no value limit); organize activities to celebrate Spring, welcome Tet, visit and encourage union members and workers who do not have the conditions to return home to celebrate Tet.

For workers to have a complete and warm Tet

The members of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor highly appreciated the Plan to take care of union members during Tet, and emphasized that increasing the level of support and diversifying Tet care activities will help strengthen the position of the Trade Union organization, consolidate the trust of union members and workers, and contribute to stabilizing labor relations, creating motivation to promote production and business development after Tet.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said: With the motto "All union members and workers have Tet, enjoy Tet", basically, the activities to take care of Tet this year continue to inherit and promote effective models in recent years, in the spirit of taking care of Tet gifts for union members and workers not being lower than last year.

The gifts, including both cash and in kind, are distributed to ensure both spiritual encouragement and practicality for Tet needs.

Regarding the new content of organizing the "Union Year-end Dinner", President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized, "We must let every union member and worker, even though they are far from home, still have a complete and warm Tet, with joy and sharing from the Union."

Accordingly, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang also requested that when implementing the Plan, units and sectors should balance and arrange for provincial-level Trade Union officials to go to the grassroots level to attend the year-end meal with workers and laborers, increase exchanges and encourage workers before the first shift of the new year. At the same time, encourage grassroots Trade Unions to coordinate with government and local leaders to ensure the organization of the year-end meal is well organized, creating a mark and impression of the Trade Union organization from the grassroots level.
