According to SamMobile , Xbox Game Pass account owners are about to receive some bad news, as Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) is about to leave the library of this game service. Microsoft has officially announced this, although it has not revealed a specific date, but according to a reputable source on X of the account @IdleSloth84_, this time will probably be January 15, 2024.
Besides GTA 5 , two other big names are also about to leave Xbox Game Pass: Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden . These games will also be removed on January 15. So, if you want to play these games, players will have nearly 2 weeks left to experience them.
GTA 5 is leaving Xbox Game Pass and coming to PlayStation Plus
This will be the third time Microsoft has removed GTA 5 from Xbox Game Pass. Previously, the company offered the game on the subscription service from January 2020 to May 2020 and from April 2021 to August 2021. The last time they added GTA 5 back to Xbox Game Pass was in July 2023 until now.
While Microsoft said goodbye to GTA 5 , Sony recently welcomed the game to the PlayStation Plus service. This seems to be Rockstar Games' alternating exclusivity strategy between the two leading gaming platforms today.
These moves come right after Rockstar released the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), which is expected to be released in 2025. It seems that the company wants to 'tease' and heat up the atmosphere before their masterpiece is officially revealed.
