Hanoi still has more than 120 flooded spots, city leaders go to the scene to inspect

Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong inspected the work of ensuring safety for students at Ly Thuong Kiet Secondary School, Phan Huy Chu High School and Trung Hoa Kindergarten. He asked the schools to be flexible in teaching plans for students, while ensuring the safety of students and teachers.

Deputy Director of the Department of Construction Nguyen The Cong inspected the flooded area in Xuan Tao ward (Bac Tu Liem district), requesting units to urgently clear the sewer system to reduce water stagnation in residential areas.

In particular, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Xuan Dai directly inspected the right dike of Cau at Km25+850 - an area identified as a key area at the City level, directing functional forces to be on duty 24/7, closely monitoring water levels and promptly responding if any unusual situations occur.

According to a quick report from Hanoi Drainage Company Limited, due to the influence of storm No. 11 (Matmo), from the night of October 6 to noon of October 7, Hanoi had very heavy rain over a wide area, with average rainfall of 100 - 180mm, locally at Hai Boi 348.8mm, O Cho Dua 334.8mm, Dai Mo 257.5mm. The water level of Nhue River at Ha Dong sluice reached 5.76m, To Lich River at Hoang Quoc Viet 5.38m, West Lake 6.11m.

As of 10:00 a.m. the same day, there were still more than 120 localized flooding points in many streets such as Huynh Thuc Khang, Thai Ha, Le Duc Tho, Duong Dinh Nghe, Quan Nhan, Quang Trung (Ha Dong) and the area under Thien Duc bridge (Long Bien)... Of which, there were 29 flooded points, vehicles could not move.

Hanoi Drainage Company is operating all 20/20 pumps at Yen So station and many other pumping stations, opening the floodgates of regulating lakes, arranging on-duty forces and promptly handling flooded areas to lower water levels, ensuring the safety of the entire city's drainage system.
