Web of Science has just announced a ranking of research article achievements in the first half of 2025 of higher education institutions in Vietnam.

Accordingly, the top 10 universities in Vietnam in terms of research article achievements in the first half of 2025 have had a breakthrough change compared to the same period in the first half of 2024.

Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City National University with 850 articles in the WoS category, contributing 13.18%, holds the first position. Ranked second is Hanoi National University with 510 articles, accounting for 7.91% of the country.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology ranked 3rd with 373 entries, accounting for 5.79% of the country. Also in the top 10 in order are: Duy Tan University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Can Tho University, Hue University, Phenikaa University, Ton Duc Thang University, Van Lang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics .

In general, the number of WoS research articles in schools increased significantly compared to the same period. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City National University increased by 202 articles, Hanoi National University increased by 105 articles, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hue University increased by 68 articles respectively. Dong Nai University of Technology increased by more than double compared to the same period.

In particular, 11 institutions in the top 10 groups account for 47.49% of the total number of research articles in the country.

The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that in recent years, universities have focused on developing research capacity, affirming their key role in the national network of science and technology organizations. The number of scientific publications in the WoS/Scopus list has gradually increased, in which higher education institutions contribute about 85%.

Thanks to research achievements, more and more Vietnamese universities are entering prestigious international rankings; many scientific research works and products are transferred and commercialized.
