Hai Duong - Vientiane strengthen special friendship, towards extensive cooperation

On June 18, the working delegation of the People's Council of Hai Duong province led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, paid a visit and worked in Vientiane province (Laos).

According to Hai Duong Newspaper, the delegation was received by Mr. Thongsavanh Vongsamphan, Deputy Secretary of Vientiane Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association of Vientiane Province; Mr. Lammai Koudlavong, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Vientiane Provincial People's Council, and leaders of a number of local departments and branches.

At the meeting, Mr. Thongsavanh Vongsamphan shared about the socio -economic development situation of the province, and expressed his joy and appreciation for the close relationship between the two provinces over the past 40 years. He especially acknowledged the practical support of Hai Duong province in recent times, such as: building kindergartens, upgrading the Hai Duong - Vientiane Cooperation Center, organizing human resource training courses in the sports industry... These contributions have contributed to improving the quality of human resources and educational infrastructure in the locality.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich highly appreciated the achievements of Vientiane province and shared about the development situation of Hai Duong province after the Covid-19 pandemic. Hai Duong is currently one of the leading localities in the country in building new rural areas, balancing its budget and promoting investment attraction and sustainable industrial development. She also introduced the monitoring activities, innovation in voter contact and effective models of organizing the People's Council of Hai Duong.

In particular, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich informed about Vietnam's large-scale administrative reform orientation, including the policy of merging a number of provinces and districts. Hai Duong province will merge with Hai Phong city from July 1, 2025, becoming a new growth pole of the country.

Both sides emphasized their desire to continue to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and foster the traditional friendship between Hai Duong and Vientiane, making it increasingly deeper and more effective. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich respectfully invited leaders and delegations from Vientiane province to visit and work in Hai Duong - Hai Phong city after July 1, 2025 to continue promoting the tradition of close cooperation between the two localities.

During the working trip, the delegation of Hai Duong province visited and learned about activities at cultural establishments and traditional shops, demonstrating their interest in people-to-people exchanges and multifaceted cooperation between the two localities. The visit once again affirmed the special friendship between Hai Duong and Vientiane, a vivid demonstration of the lasting solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
