On August 24, the Khmer Times (Cambodia) reported that Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin had a phone call with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Manet on the evening of August 23 - one day after both were elected.

During the phone call, the two leaders congratulated each other on being elected prime minister on the same day, August 22.
“Both governments are committed to strengthening friendship and cooperation, especially between the people of our two countries,” Mr. Hun Manet affirmed.
Sharing on social network X the same day, former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said: "It is a beautiful day, when two neighboring countries with constitutional monarchies welcome new prime ministers together."
At the same time, Mr. Hun Sen hopes that the two new leaders will work together to promote further cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Srettha, 61 years old, of the Pheu Thai (For Thailand) party, was elected Prime Minister of Thailand after receiving majority support from the National Assembly in the vote on August 22.
Earlier the same day, Mr. Hun Manet was also appointed by the Cambodian National Assembly as the head of the country.
According to the Khmer Times , Mr. Kin Phea - Director General of the Institute of International Relations at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, said that the Cambodia-Thailand relationship will be promoted through the two new prime ministers.
