Traffic restrictions on National Highway 14D during storm No. 5

DNO - On the morning of August 24, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Da Nang City, Tran Ngoc Thanh, signed and issued Official Dispatch No. 3176 on restricting traffic on National Highway 14D during the time of storm No. 5 (Kajiki).

The document clearly states that currently, National Highway 14D is severely damaged, with many areas of mud and subsidence causing difficulties and traffic safety risks for people and vehicles.

According to weather forecasts, storm No. 5 is about to make landfall, causing heavy rain in the Central region. Implementing Official Dispatch No. 03, dated August 23, 2025 of the People's Committee of Da Nang City on implementing measures to respond to storm No. 5, the Department of Construction requests the Customs Branch of Region XII and transport enterprises with vehicles traveling on National Highway 14D to pay attention to implementing a number of important contents.

Accordingly, transport enterprises with vehicles on the route must monitor and update forecast information for storm No. 5 to have effective prevention plans for people, vehicles and goods, and arrange transportation plans.

Please pay attention to temporarily suspend or limit traffic on National Highway 14D during the period of storm No. 5 (expected from 7:00 p.m. on August 24 to the end of August 26) due to severe damage to the road surface, high risk of landslides causing traffic jams during the storm.

National Highway 14D has a total route length of about 74.4km; the starting point is at km0+000 intersecting with Ho Chi Minh road (at km1,332+610) in Ca Dy commune, Nam Giang district (old); the end point is at km74+376 adjacent to Nam Giang international border gate, in La Dee commune, Nam Giang district (old).

The road has seriously degraded, is narrow and has many dangerous curves; the City People's Committee is directing the investor to carry out investment procedures to renovate and upgrade it.

The investor is the Quang Nam Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, which has selected contractor TV05 - consultant for survey, feasibility study report, building information modeling (BIM), site clearance pile driving, and environmental impact assessment report.
