During 2 days (August 13-14), the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City organized a training course on STEM education program for preschool, primary and secondary school teachers; a program on applying artificial intelligence (AI) in digital transformation for primary, secondary and high school teachers.

The organizers said that about 2,500 teachers of all levels from more than 1,200 schools located in 93 communes and wards from the plains to the highlands of Da Nang City attended the training sessions.

Assessing the training program as truly useful for teachers in the current context, Mr. Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City, said that the program will help teachers approach new trends in teaching organization and school management, while equipping them with knowledge, methods and skills to apply STEM and AI in teaching practice.

According to Mr. Thanh, if in the first years of implementing STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), many schools were concerned about the cost of purchasing equipment, now the perception has changed. STEM is not just equipment but also a method of organizing teaching. In the context of AI increasingly being introduced into education, preparing suitable facilities is necessary, but more importantly, how to apply this technology effectively.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City hopes that there will continue to be more coordination programs to support schools in innovating teaching methods and improving the quality of education in the coming time.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thang, Chairman of the Education Innovation Joint Stock Company, Vinastem Education Investment Joint Stock Company, commented that the world is changing strongly under the impact of science and technology. Concepts such as AI, data science, or robot technology are no longer strange. In particular, the skills needed for the 21st century are not limited to book knowledge but also the ability to think critically, solve problems, be creative and collaborate.

Mr. Thang said: "The training program in Da Nang City today will not only be an event but also the beginning of a long journey - where each classroom becomes a creative 'laboratory' for Vietnamese children."
