The fence that has narrowed the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection by more than half has caused traffic difficulties, especially during rush hour. Photo taken on the afternoon of July 16.

The objective of the Ring Road 2.5 tunnel project is to reorganize traffic in the direction that vehicles traveling on Ring Road 2.5 when reaching the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection will go underground (underpass) to Kim Dong street and vice versa, this helps reduce congestion at the intersection and Giai Phong street. Along with that, the project also keeps the national railway lines (arrows) passing through Ring Road 2.5 still running at the intersection level.

The Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said the project started in October 2022 and is scheduled to be completed in 2025 with an investment of more than 770 billion VND. Due to site clearance problems, mainly the section through Giap Bat station, the progress of some project items is behind schedule. However, the site clearance has been basically resolved and the investor is urging contractors to complete the project on schedule.
