Huynh Nhu suffered minor injuries but…
In the second match of Group C of the AFC Champions League Women (Asian Women's Cup C1) 2024 - 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Club will host Odisha Club at Thong Nhat Stadium at 7:00 p.m. on October 9. This is the decisive match for Huynh Nhu and her teammates in winning tickets to the knockout round at the largest arena in the continent for women's clubs.
After shining with a double against Taichung Blue Whale Club (Taiwan) in the first match, Huynh Nhu revealed that she had been injured before. Regarding the condition of the striker from Tra Vinh , head coach Nguyen Hong Pham said: "Huynh Nhu had a minor adductor injury before the first match of the tournament, but the situation has changed quite positively. Our team does not have any serious injuries. However, we will try to rotate the force if there is an opportunity. In any match, depending on the situation, we rotate the players to have them in the best form."
Coaches and players of both teams attended a press conference before the match on the evening of October 9.
Regarding the key striker of Ho Chi Minh City FC, head coach Crispin Chettri (Odisha FC) commented: “Huynh Nhu is an excellent player. She has just returned to play after an injury but scored 2 goals in the first match. This will motivate Huynh Nhu herself and the whole team. However, Ho Chi Minh City FC does not only have Huynh Nhu but also many other excellent players, such as the captain (Chuong Thi Kieu - PV) and the American foreign players. Ho Chi Minh City FC has collective strength.”
The head coach of Odisha Club also shared quite humorously in the meeting: "Hopefully, Huynh Nhu will not play."

Must forget the heavy defeat
In the first match of Group C, Odisha Club lost with a very heavy score of 0-17 to Urawa Red Diamonds Club (Japan). “The heavy defeat somewhat affected the expectations of those who supported us. Technically, I take full responsibility. But we have to forget it and try our best in the next match. Psychologically, we took the players on a tour to relieve stress and pressure. The result of the match is not the most important, because we are in the development and improvement stage. The important thing is that the whole team must try their best,” Coach Chettri shared.
Commenting on Ho Chi Minh City FC’s opponent in the second round of the Asian Women’s C1 tournament, coach Nguyen Hong Pham said: “No matter what the result of the first round is, Ho Chi Minh City FC still maintains the goal of trying every match, absolutely not being subjective. I have the greatest respect for my opponent.”
In the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Women's Group Stage, 12 participating teams are divided into 3 groups (4 teams each), playing a round-robin to calculate ranking points. The first and second-placed teams in each group, along with the two third-placed teams with the best group stage results, will qualify for the quarter-finals.
In the second match of Group C taking place on October 9, Huynh Nhu and her teammates will face Odisha Club (India). In the afternoon of the same day, Taichung Blue Whale Club will meet Urawa Red Diamonds Club.
