On September 11, Mr. Ta Van Ha, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education , had a working session with the People's Committee of Da Nang City on a thematic survey on the implementation of the Youth Law on policies to support young people starting a business (period 2020 - 2023).
Recently, many policies and strategies to support projects and start-up businesses have achieved many positive results.
Up to now, Da Nang City has supported 27 businesses, including direct funding for 19 innovative start-up businesses with a total budget of more than 3.6 trillion VND; supported 8 businesses and institutes to implement incubation and acceleration programs. On average, each incubator has incubated and accelerated 6-8 projects/year. Of which, nearly 70% of the projects and businesses are owned by young people.
Timely and practical support activities help innovative start-ups and youth-led start-ups gradually commercialize products, orient and develop markets.
According to Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, Da Nang always strives to achieve the goal of Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW of the Politburo , making Da Nang the center of innovative startups in the Central Highlands region and the country. However, the implementation process shows that innovative startups are still following the trend, lacking policy mechanisms and legal corridors to promote implementation. In practice, in previous years, most university graduates chose to go to Ho Chi Minh City to work and start a business. Therefore, the difficulty of the locality is how to keep young people to stay and work in their hometown.
To create a breakthrough in developing the local innovative startup ecosystem and supporting young people to start a business in the coming time, Ms. Le Thi Thuc, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City, said that Da Nang should focus on effectively implementing mechanisms and policies to support startups focusing on young people. At the same time, deploy specific mechanisms and policies on science and technology management activities and innovative startups to implement Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024 of the National Assembly. Along with that, focus on perfecting the infrastructure serving startups to provide centralized workspaces, startup training and coaching, utilities to support and connect small and medium-sized enterprises to start innovative startups, etc.
In addition, strengthen and expand cooperation with innovative startup ecosystems of domestic and international localities with strong innovative startup activities such as the US, Japan, Korea, Australia, Finland, Singapore, etc., thereby exchanging experiences, attracting investment funds for youth startups and connecting relevant partners.
Similarly, Mr. Le Cong Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union, informed that the City Youth Union continues to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Science and Technology to integrate programs and consultation sessions for students in the area. At the same time, encourage the establishment of innovation and entrepreneurship centers in schools and startup clubs, thereby helping young people gain knowledge, passion and support to start a business.
Looking at the reality, Mr. Ta Van Ha, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, highly appreciated the innovation and startup movement in Da Nang. At the same time, he agreed on the key tasks of Da Nang City in the coming time to promote activities. Da Nang needs to strengthen the connection between businesses, access resources, venture capital funds, and angel investors. In the coming time, Da Nang will be a promised land, a center for innovation and startup not only in the Central Highlands region but also become a national center for innovation and startup.
