At the Box Billiards Mixed Doubles Open 2025 mixed doubles tournament held on September 18, the pair Duong Quoc Hoang (Hoang Sao) and Bui Xuan Vang stopped at round 3 of the loser's bracket after a 0-2 defeat against Hsu Jui-an and Chou Chia-chia (Taiwan).

Facing a highly rated opponent, the last representative of Vietnamese billiards entered the game with determination, creating a number of opportunities in the early stages of the match. However, the two Taiwanese players who showed more precision and courage were the two players. They controlled the game well and won the final match convincingly.

This result means that the home team has officially been eliminated from the tournament. Before that, a number of Vietnamese representative pairs had also stopped in the early rounds. Meanwhile, the couples considered to be strong candidates for the championship, such as the Filler couple, Fedor Gorst - Kristina Tkach, Ko Ping-chung - Chou Chieh-yu, Ko Pin-yi - Wei Tzu Chien, all made it to the quarterfinals.

On September 19, the tournament will enter the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals to find the champion.

Who does Vietnamese Billiards hope for?

In the opening round of the 2025 Men's 10-Ball World Championship, Vietnamese players had an emotional day. Nguyen Van Huynh maintained a stable performance when he overcame Hoang Thai Duy and Kengo Suzuki to advance deep in the winner's bracket. Ho So Phat also impressed when he defeated Dinh Thanh Trung and Ma Chen-chao (China). Nguyen Bao Chau consecutively defeated Luong Duc Thien and Ngo Xuan Linh and especially came from behind to defeat Koki Sugiyama (Japan) to enter the final round for the winner's bracket.

However, many Vietnamese representatives stopped at the winning bracket such as Tran Van Quyen, Ngo Quang Trung, Nguyen The Hien or Nghiem Uy Lan when facing strong opponents from the Philippines, Japan and Europe.

In the losers bracket, domestic players still tried to keep hope. Dinh Ngoc Duy defeated Kento Oda (Japan), Hoang Thai Duy defeated Huang Hao (China), Luong Chi Dung defeated Nguyen Ba Manh, Nguyen Anh Tuan also won to continue the journey to compete for a ticket to the final round.
