Mr. Hieu said that since 2019, the department has worked professionally with Saigon University to implement the integrated natural science subject. City teachers have been trained and continue to have advanced topics to teach this subject.

"How can we help teachers be confident when teaching integrated subjects, not breaking down knowledge, not deepening knowledge of Natural Science into single subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology as before. In the near future, the city will continue to organize specialized and advanced training courses in Natural Science to help teachers and students achieve the desired results. Ho Chi Minh City continues to persevere and maintain the teaching orientation in the integrated direction, one teacher teaches a subject throughout, meeting the goals of the 2018 General Education Program," Mr. Hieu emphasized.

Regarding the city-level excellent student exam for grades 9 and 12 in the new school year, the leader of the Secondary Education Department informed that there will be a number of new exam subjects in line with the 2018 General Education Program.

In particular, the 12th grade excellent student exam will have a new subject: economic and legal education.

The 9th grade gifted student exam will include Natural Science and History - Geography subjects because in the 2018 General Education Program for Secondary School, there are no longer single subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography.

"The 9th grade excellent student exam in Natural Science will consist of two compulsory and optional parts. The compulsory part with knowledge assessing students' general capacity in content areas accounts for 30% of the score and the optional part, students can choose one of the content areas related to capacity such as matter transformation, life..., accounts for 70% of the score. The structure of the excellent student team in Natural Science will include 45 students/locality", Mr. Tran Ngoc Huy informed.
