Arousing national pride

At the special flag-salute ceremony, students of Ha Dong High School had the opportunity to review the heroic history of the Vietnam People's Army.

Students of Ha Dong High School at the flag-salute ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day.

Accordingly, on December 22, 1944, in the forest between Hoang Hoa Tham and Tran Hung Dao communes in Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province (now Na Sang hamlet, Tam Kim commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province), the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army was established under the Directive of President Ho Chi Minh . This was an important milestone in the history of the nation's struggle for independence. The birth of the Vietnam People's Army marked a new turning point in the resistance war against French colonialism as well as opening a heroic historical period of the Vietnamese people.

The first Vietnamese army at that time had only a few soldiers, but with ardent patriotism, they were determined to fight and protect the Fatherland from colonial rule. In particular, the Vietnam People's Army was organized and operated according to the principles of a revolutionary army, with the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.

100% of teachers of National Defense and Security Education at Ha Dong High School are regular military officers.

December 22 is not only a historical anniversary, but also an occasion for every Vietnamese citizen to pay tribute and honor the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the resistance wars. Since the birth of the Vietnam People's Army, the military has always been a strong symbol of military strength, solidarity and patriotism. From historic victories such as the Dien Bien Phu battle, liberating the South, to protecting the sovereignty of the border and islands, the Vietnamese army has continuously contributed and fought to protect the peace of the country.

December 22 is also an occasion to affirm the strong development of the Vietnam People's Army in the modern era. In the context of a rapidly changing world, the army not only plays the role of protecting the Fatherland but also contributes to ensuring security and stability in the region and the world. The Vietnamese Army today is constantly innovating, creating, and developing in all aspects from strategy, equipment, human resources to science and technology, meeting the requirements of protecting the country in the new era.

This event is also an opportunity for the Vietnamese people to look back at the achievements the army has made, from resounding victories in history to contributions to the cause of building and defending the country today.

35 years ago, in response to the wishes of the people of the whole country, the Central Party Secretariat (6th tenure) decided to take the founding day of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22) as the National Defense Day. From then on, December 22 truly became the traditional day to protect the Fatherland, the day to honor and promote the noble image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers".

Fostering love of country

In the sacred emotions, students and teachers of Ha Dong High School watched the touching documentary film titled “Steadfast Steps Under the Party Flag” produced by the People’s Army Cinema. The film showed the image of the heroic and gallant soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army in the fight to protect the Fatherland through the ages.

To honor the pride and gratitude to the generation of fathers and grandfathers who heroically fell for the peace and happiness of the people, the Youth Union of Ha Dong High School also brought to the meeting heartfelt songs about the theme of soldiers, about the brave determination of the army, about the desire for peace through some famous songs: Round Footprints on the Sand, Forever Singing the Military March, Continuing the Story of Peace...

“I was very moved when participating in the flag-raising ceremony. The historical films and song lyrics reminded us to always be grateful to previous generations; to study hard to preserve and promote achievements and be worthy of the great sacrifices of our ancestors,” student Nguyen Van Anh shared.

According to Ms. Kim Thi Thuy Huong, Secretary of the Youth Union of Ha Dong High School, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day is an occasion to pay tribute to the contributions and sacrifices of generations of soldiers; to arouse national pride and determination to maintain independence and freedom for the country.

This is also an opportunity for the young generation to express their respect and deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers; war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans, compatriots and comrades who have heroically fought, sacrificed and devoted their whole lives to the revolutionary ideals of the Party and the nation, bringing peace, independence and freedom to the Fatherland today.

With a comprehensive innovation strategy in parallel with the cultural training program, moral education, lifestyle, and fostering patriotism are among the contents that the High School always pays attention to and promotes in many different forms, such as: organizing many experiential trips to historical sites; twinning with the New Soldier Training Battalion, Division 361, Air Defense - Air Force. 100% of the school's National Defense and Security Education teachers are regular military officers, training students to have a high sense of learning, discipline, and independence.

At the beginning of the new school year, the school launched the Military Semester program with a methodical and professional training program; thereby arousing patriotism, national pride and self-respect; helping students mature in thinking and acting more responsibly.

It is known that over the years, teachers and students of Ha Dong High School have had many achievements in national defense and security education. The number of students with good and excellent scores in National Defense and Security always accounts for a high percentage. 100% of male students of the school participate in registration and military service examination when they reach the required age.
