The pain in his neck increased, swelling and difficulty breathing so the patient was taken to the Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital by his family. At the hospital, doctors performed an endoscopy to remove the foreign object, which was a piece of fish bone.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Huyen - Deputy Head of the hospital's ENT department, many people with fish bones stuck in their throats often use their hands to clear their throats or use tricks like swallowing hot rice or drinking water... However, this method is very dangerous, easily causing the fish bone to drift deeper or injure and perforate the esophagus.
