At the conference, delegates watched the reportage “Long Xuyen looks back, confidently entering a new era” and reviewed the process of formation, construction and development of Long Xuyen city with proud achievements.

“Long Xuyen, from a cramped urban area with outdated infrastructure and people's lives still facing many difficulties and shortages... has gradually become a smart, civilized and modern class I urban area under the province; the economic and social infrastructure has developed comprehensively and synchronously; the quality of life of the people has been constantly improved, worthy of being the political , economic, socio-cultural, scientific and technical center of the province and the Mekong Delta region. The development of Long Xuyen City today is the result of the solidarity, efforts and tireless dedication of many generations of cadres, party members and people of the whole city” - Secretary of Long Xuyen City Party Committee Huynh Quoc Thai emphasized.

On July 1, 2025, Long Xuyen City will close its glorious historical mission as a district-level administrative unit. Long Xuyen City will transform itself into a new form, becoming 4 new administrative units of wards and communes (including: Long Xuyen Ward, Binh Duc Ward, My Thoi Ward and My Hoa Hung Commune). "With affection, responsibility and memories for "Long Xuyen City - smart, civilized, modern and affectionate class I urban area" is an important premise and driving force for the entire Party, people and army of Long Xuyen City to confidently enter a new era - an era of national growth with the belief in new victories" - Comrade Huynh Quoc Thai confided.
