(CLO) On December 25, in Hanoi , the Hanoi Writers Association held a ceremony to summarize the work of 2024, award the Capital Literature Prize and admit new members to the Hanoi Writers Association in 2024.

Speaking at the ceremony, writer Tran Gia Thai - Chairman of the Hanoi Writers Association said that in 2024, the Hanoi Writers Association has carried out a number of important tasks such as: organizing the first Hanoi Poetry Day, creating a profound influence and spreading positivity in the cultural life of the capital; organizing 3 literary seminars, regularly maintaining 10 monthly thematic activities; organizing field trips to learn about creative practice; participating in the writing camp of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at Tam Dao Creative House and collecting many good works; participating in creative campaigns; building a Yearbook of Writers Association members;...

Besides the achieved results, according to writer Tran Gia Thai, the association's work in the past time still faced many difficulties because the association's members are spread across many districts in Hanoi, and the majority of members are elderly, so the response to the city's political requirements has not been flexible and timely.

Chairman of the Hanoi Writers Association Tran Gia Thai highly appreciated the results the association achieved in 2024, as well as highlighted the association's direction and tasks in 2025.

“Looking back at the association's activities in 2024, we are very pleased with the achievements that the Hanoi Writers' Association has achieved. We need to continue to unite, maintain activities, and exchange creative works to have many good works in the right direction. The capital's writers need to raise their awareness and responsibility in creating to serve the political tasks of the capital and the public nationwide,” the Chairman of the Hanoi Writers' Association emphasized.

Regarding the association's activities in 2025, writer Tran Gia Thai suggested that the association focus on carefully preparing for the 14th Congress of the Hanoi Writers Association, term 2025 - 2030, scheduled to take place in the second half of the first quarter of 2025.

Regarding this year's Hanoi Writers Association Awards, poet Nguyen Viet Chien, Executive Committee Member, Head of the Creative Committee, Head of the Young Writers Committee of the Hanoi Writers Association, said that the works were selected and voted on by the poetry, spring literature, criticism theory and translated literature councils, and 40 works entered the final round.

The final jury voted by secret ballot and decided to award the Hanoi Writers Association Award 2024 to the following works: the poetry collection "Night of Yellow Flowers" by Binh Nguyen Trang with more than 40 poems rich in narrative and contemplative qualities, leaning towards depicting moods; the collection of prose "Hoa Khoi Trinh" by poet Nguyen Linh Khieu is a collection of contemplative prose with more than 80 short essays recording memories over the years; the collection of theoretical criticism of Vietnamese Literature since the 1986 renovation milestone by writer Phung Van Khai, which gathers literary portraits of many writers who have contributed to the development of contemporary Vietnamese literature; and the bilingual poetry collection of 10 great contemporary Chinese poets by translator Nguyen Huu Thang.

The Executive Committee of the Hanoi Writers Association also decided to award the Lifetime Literary Achievement Award to writer Le Luu for his great contributions to Hanoi and national literature. In 2023, this award will be given to writer Ma Van Khang.

Also on this occasion, the Professional Council, Executive Board of the Hanoi Writers Association approved 45 qualified authors to join the association, including 7 authors specializing in prose, 2 authors specializing in literary criticism, 1 literary translator and 35 poetry authors. Among them are many authors who are familiar to readers in the capital and the whole country such as: writer Dao Quoc Vinh, writer Hoang Du, poet Nguyen Tien Thanh, poet Nguyen Sy Binh, etc.
