Challenges and opportunities of Vietnamese higher education

Prof. Le Anh Vinh - Director of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (VNIES) shared detailed analysis of the current state of higher education in Vietnam. He highlighted major challenges such as quality, budget and education management. Prof. Vinh emphasized the need for comprehensive reform to fill current gaps and prepare the Vietnamese workforce to meet future economic demands.

Future needs for careers and higher education

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dieu Le, representative of the research team from the Center for Transformational Innovation at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, presented analysis and forecasts on Vietnam's labor market needs. The studies showed an increase in labor demand in fields such as IT, AI and data science, and identified occupations that are lacking human resources. The presentation also provided forecasts on the annual growth of the labor force and proposed potential areas of cooperation between Vietnamese and Australian universities.

Future trends in higher education

Prof. Nguyen Tan Hung from the University of Technology, Sydney, presented upcoming trends in higher education, focusing on digital transformation and AI integration. His presentation also highlighted the strategies that Australian educational institutions are adopting to maintain their leadership position and the potential for these strategies to be applied in Vietnam. Prof. Hung emphasized the importance of staying ahead of technological trends and integrating them into the curriculum.

Required skill set in digital economy

Ms. Pham Hoang Vy Anh - Business Development Director at Shopee Vietnam, provided an employer's perspective on the skill sets that will be in demand in the future. The presentation discussed the differences between current training programs and practical skill requirements. The speaker also emphasized the importance of aligning educational outcomes with industry needs and discussed opportunities in continuous training and skills development.

The pioneering role of universities in digital economic skills training

Dr. Hoang Viet Ha - Director of the Joint Program between FPT University and Swinburne University, introduced Swinburne University's approach to digital economic skills training through industrial partnerships and innovative curricula. The presentation emphasized collaboration with companies, startups and internships that will provide students with practical experience in digital innovation. The presentation also emphasized the importance of integrating technologies such as data analytics and cybersecurity into the curriculum.

The workshop series concluded with a panel discussion sharing experiences and perspectives on a range of topics including gender equality in the digital economy, lifelong learning strategies for post-graduate students, and essential elements in designing and implementing educational cooperation programs.
