More than 20 students in Binh Duong hospitalized due to suspected heatstroke

(Dan Tri) - After being hospitalized for treatment due to fatigue, more than 20 students of Marie Curie Primary and Secondary School in Binh Duong were discharged and returned to school as usual.

On the afternoon of March 21, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Dau Mot City (Binh Duong) said that more than 20 students of Marie Curie Primary and Secondary School, Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Hiep An Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, who were hospitalized on the afternoon of March 20, have been discharged and returned to school as usual.

According to this person, the reason the above students had to be hospitalized was initially determined not to be due to poisoning. The reason they were hospitalized was because the weather was hot, the students played a lot, leading to heat shock and fatigue.

Regarding the above incident, on the morning of March 21, Marie Curie Primary and Secondary School had a working session with the Food Safety and Hygiene Department, Thu Dau Mot City Health Department and Thu Dau Mot City Medical Center.

At the working session, the inspection team of the Food Safety and Hygiene Department concluded that the incident at the school was not related to food poisoning. The team determined that the cause could be related to hot weather, closed school yard, and students moving a lot leading to dehydration and fatigue...

According to initial information, on the afternoon of March 20, more than 20 primary and secondary school students at the school had to be hospitalized for treatment due to fatigue. Some students showed signs of dizziness and vomiting...

After being admitted to the hospital, the doctors examined and treated the students. Afterwards, the group of students were discharged and were advised by the doctors to monitor at home.

It is known that Marie Curie Primary and Secondary School imports ingredients from outside to cook and serve lunch to students at school.

The cause of the incident is being further investigated by relevant units.
