Hung Yen: A wide sea and long river open the way to the future

Hung Yen-Thai Binh merger, a new economic development space opens up as the old saying of our ancestors "First near the market, second near the river". Results, solid foundation

After a long development journey, Hung Yen (old) has planned 35 industrial parks, attracting more than 650 investment projects, of which over 50% is FDI capital with a total capital of more than 7 billion USD. Thai Binh (old) has attracted 388 projects, with a total capital of nearly 221,000 billion VND, equivalent to more than 9 billion USD, of which more than 5.1 billion USD is FDI capital. This is a clear demonstration of Hung Yen's attractiveness to domestic and foreign investors. Not to mention the system of industrial clusters located in communes throughout the province.

In 2024, Thai Binh attracted more than 1.1 billion USD in FDI capital, continuing to be a destination attracting FDI capital flows, while Hung Yen recorded 180 new investment projects, an increase of 80% compared to the previous year. By the end of July 2025, Hung Yen had attracted more than 840 million USD in investment capital, reaching 84% of the yearly plan. Of which, 64 new investment projects were received, including 35 FDI projects with a total registered capital of 352 million USD and 29 domestic projects (DDI) with more than 9,000 billion VND.

In addition to that result, existing investors also continued to invest, demonstrating long-term confidence in the investment environment in Hung Yen. Specifically, 35 projects were adjusted to increase capital, of which 26 FDI projects increased by nearly 114 million USD and 9 DDI projects increased by 350 billion VND.

The special results are that the main socio-economic development targets set by the Resolution of the 19th Hung Yen Provincial Party Congress and the 20th Thai Binh Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term have basically been achieved and exceeded; many targets far exceeded the congress's goals. The economic structure has shifted positively towards industrialization and modernization; the scale of the economy has expanded; the urbanization rate has accelerated; agriculture and rural areas have changed positively, the new rural construction program has achieved many outstanding achievements. Strategic breakthroughs have been implemented drastically and effectively, making important contributions to the comprehensive development of the province; notably the development of transport infrastructure, urban areas and key projects, the formation and operation of Thai Binh Economic Zone, industrial parks and clusters have contributed to creating the basis and foundation for the locality to transform and develop.

These are not only results but also important premises along with the province's expanded development space, Hung Yen will soon become the industrial and urban center of the Red River Delta.

In the context of the Red River Delta being planned to become the leading growth engine of the country, the formation of a new Hung Yen province with rich potential, strong in industry, services and marine economy will be an important boost, creating a dynamic, modern, widespread and sustainable development pole.
