Workshop: Guide to Successful Exporting for Women Entrepreneurs

The event was attended by representatives from regulatory agencies, associations, industries, women-owned and led businesses that are ready or near-ready to export, private sector companies, financial institutions and other stakeholders involved in the project implementation.

According to Mr. Dao Viet Anh - Head of International Relations Department, Trade Promotion Agency, Vietnam has one of the highest rates of women-owned businesses in Southeast Asia, but most of them are micro- and small-sized, 90% of which operate in the trade and service sectors. The reason is that, despite the recognition of gender equality in the constitution and the increasing number of amendments to legal documents and regulations to maintain gender equality, female entrepreneurs in Vietnam still face some limitations from social norms and expectations.

The two-day workshop included three working sessions:

Part 1 : Building market readiness for women entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs will receive hands-on training on topics necessary for businesses to increase competitiveness and access new markets, focusing on the export journey, processes, market research, documentation, customs, green solutions.

Part 2: Strengthening the women-led trade ecosystem. Training of Trainers (ToT) on risk management, business resilience, gender-sensitive tools and methods.

Part 3 : Meet SheTrades Partners.

The second day will incorporate a networking component, with quick exchanges between delegates to discuss new market and trade opportunities, and promote connections between industry experts and female entrepreneurs.

Sharing the same view, Ms. Pham Thi Thoa - NICOTEX Joint Stock Company expressed that through the event, businesses have a preliminary understanding of export knowledge, export procedures, customs declaration, free trade agreements, export support tools... to some other countries.

At the workshop, in addition to the technical presentations of the speakers, there were also representatives from trade support organizations and industry associations sharing their current programs and activities to support businesses in particular and female entrepreneurs in general to strengthen the business support ecosystem and promote trade for female-owned businesses in Vietnam.
