iPad Air M2 does not have 10-core GPU as announced

Announced alongside the iPad Pro M4 at the Let's Loose event in early May, the iPad Air M2 was rumored to feature a 10-core GPU, but now the current product's specs page says it has a 9-core GPU. Apple hasn't elaborated on the change, but has quietly updated the iPad Air M2's specs page. Based on the archived data, the change appears to have been made within the last 10 days.

In the initial press release of the iPad Air M2, Apple still left out the information saying that the device is equipped with a 10-core GPU and it seems that the company has not updated the specs page on the 11-inch version of the iPad Air M2.

This is a very strange thing that may highlight some unclear understandings within Apple and lead some consumers to believe that the iPad Air M2 is equipped with a 10-core GPU, when in fact it only has 9 cores. This change is not yet reflected in all places on Apple's official website.

This change also marks the first time Apple is offering an M2 chip with a 9-core GPU. Previously, the company introduced 8-core and 10-core versions of the MacBook Air M2. In reality, most users won't notice the difference between a 9-core and 10-core GPU, but it would be nice if the company could explain it properly.
