Connecting "3 houses" in the startup ecosystem

In the context of deep integration, the close connection between the state, schools and businesses is becoming an urgent requirement. If the state plays the role of guiding policies, businesses are the place to realize ideas, then schools are the cradle to nurture knowledge and entrepreneurial aspirations for the young generation.

Inspiring positive energy for young entrepreneurs has been an ongoing activity for many years in localities to build a dynamic startup ecosystem.

Especially in the university education environment, many activities to connect and share experiences on creative startups and build startup ecosystems have been implemented, creating conditions for students, lecturers and young people to directly experience and develop ideas.

In the context of high youth unemployment and AI skills becoming a global recruitment standard, this is also a practical solution to link training with labor market needs, contributing to solving the problem of high-quality human resources.

Speaking at a workshop to link human resource training activities with the practical needs of the labor market, Mr. Ly Dinh Quan, General Director of the Song Han Startup Incubation Center, emphasized that the innovative startup ecosystem in universities is extremely important.

University is a journey: starting with inspiration, then helping students discover knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship. Next, the school will support students to form ideas, become founders and build specific projects and products to prepare for the startup process.

“Throughout this journey, schools, businesses and the State need to work together to create the best environment. Each student is a seed of talent, and when nurtured in a complete ecosystem, they will become real talents,” Mr. Quan shared.

Mr. Pham Vu Huy Hoang, Director of Devplus (a practical "sandbox" training model for information technology students) shared that his motivation to start a business and innovate was simply inspired by an article he accidentally read.

According to him, with passion and dedication, young entrepreneurs need to be persistent, “stubborn”, and not discouraged. They should see the failure of a startup as a lesson, a foundation for success, from which they will be more determined, persistent and stronger, not afraid of failure.

According to Dr. Pham Nguyen Hong Ngu, Vice Principal of Quang Nam University, the school plays a bridging role so that knowledge in the classroom does not stop at research but is also transformed into practical solutions serving life and production.

At the same time, it helps students visualize their future path more clearly, preparing a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and entrepreneurial spirit on the journey ahead.

Why is it necessary to connect "3 houses"?

Mr. Nguyen Viet Toan, Director of the Danang Center for Supporting Innovative Startups, said that in the era where the 4.0 industrial revolution, artificial intelligence, digital technology and knowledge economy are profoundly changing all fields, the role of connecting the state - schools - businesses is more urgent than ever.

This connection not only helps to orient and support students, the young and creative generation, but also opens up new opportunities for scientific research results to be applied in practice; for businesses to find high-quality human resources and for the government to formulate practical policies.

Mr. Vu Tien Dung, Director of FundGo Startup Investment Fund, said that the labor market is facing many challenges: up to 61% of businesses have difficulty recruiting suitable personnel, the unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group remains at 7.83%, much higher than the general rate, while 66% of global employers affirm that they will not hire candidates lacking AI skills.

These pressures require urgent coordination between the three sectors, not only to train high-quality human resources but also to prepare the young generation to be ready to adapt, integrate and develop in the digital age and artificial intelligence.

Mr. Ly Dinh Quan said that Vietnam's greatest resources are people, culture and nature. However, without innovation, these resources will be difficult to develop.

Therefore, we are forced to innovate to create high-quality human resources. Besides, entrepreneurship is a way to commercialize new products and services, create competitiveness and reach out globally.

Entrepreneurship aims to create a generation of entrepreneurs of international stature. That means we have to create more products and services for the world so that the country can become prosperous.

According to Mr. Quan, currently universities do startups in a trendy way, with little innovation and creativity.

Without innovation, the amount of knowledge in schools will not be enough to contribute to and serve society. He emphasized that to implement innovation, it is necessary to “co-create”, that is, to work together to turn knowledge from schools into valuable products for businesses and society.

“Universities do a lot of research but need to work closely with businesses. To connect effectively, it is necessary to understand what the market and customers need, and at the same time consider what knowledge the school has to help businesses solve their problems. Innovation is a process of cooperation between businesses and the market, so close cooperation will help this process achieve the highest efficiency,” Mr. Quan shared.

Connecting students to participate in innovative activities

Speaking at the 1st Congress of the Da Nang City Party Committee (term 2025 - 2030), Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh presented 6 solutions to help Da Nang become a center for innovative startups.

One of the solutions emphasized is to attract and develop high-quality human resources, focusing on building and implementing innovative startup programs at educational institutions.

The city will connect and form research groups, students, and pupils from Da Nang and internationally to solve problems and challenges, participate in competitions and innovation activities; and at the same time implement projects in cooperation with institutes, schools and businesses.

At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the connection between businesses and universities and research institutes to develop start-up products and innovation.

In addition, Da Nang will focus on investing in infrastructure development and startup systems; mobilizing social resources; promoting communication and supporting technology transfer...
