Li Lianying's original name was Li Jinxi. He was castrated and entered the palace at the age of 9. Growing up in the palace since childhood, Li Lianying was very good at winning people's hearts. In history, he was mentioned as having an extremely high EQ and IQ. Not only did he win the hearts of Cixi, but he was also very popular with his subordinates.

In 1908, both Guangxu and Cixi passed away, and Li Lianying knew that he could no longer stay in the Forbidden City. Therefore, 100 days after Cixi's death, he resigned, gave all the gold, silver, and jewels that had been given to Empress Dowager Longyu, and left the palace.

Three years after leaving the palace, Li Lianying died at the age of 63. The time of his death was also the time when the Qing Dynasty was in decline. Li Lianying was buried with great ceremony by the emperor and had a 20-acre independent mausoleum built in Beijing. It can be said that few eunuchs received such great honor.

In 1988, archaeologists found Li Lianying's tomb. After the discovery, the team of experts urgently excavated the tomb. They discovered many unusual points in Li Lianying's tomb.

Firstly , Li Lianying’s tomb is extremely hard. The reason is because the tomb walls are made of a mixture of egg whites, glutinous rice and lime, which when solidified is as hard as steel. However, because the walls are so hard, experts are worried that if they dig too roughly, they will destroy the precious artifacts inside.

Luckily, while they were having a headache looking for another entrance, an old man nearby showed them a secret passage in the tomb.

Second , Li Lianying's body was no longer intact.

Archaeologists hypothesize that when Li Lianying was alive, he had offended many people and had many enemies. These people only dared to take revenge after his death. Perhaps, they took Li Lianying's body and hid it somewhere. To this day, experts have not found the remaining bones of this eunuch.
