In the days leading up to the Mid-Autumn Festival, many medical facilities across the country have organized meaningful programs to help patients in general and children and their relatives in particular have more joy and motivation for treatment.

In Ho Chi Minh City, a working delegation from the Ministry of Health led by Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health, together with the Department of Mothers and Children and the Vietnam Children's Fund, recently visited and presented gifts to children being treated at Children's Hospital 1 and Cho Ray Hospital.

Handing out practical gifts to the patients, the Deputy Minister of Health expressed his emotion when seeing the children's eager eyes.

At that moment, mixed with the joyful laughter and the shyness in the innocent eyes of the children was an optimistic spirit that helped children and parents temporarily forget their health worries.

The leaders of the Ministry of Health hope that the Mid-Autumn Festival gifts will help encourage the young "warriors" to overcome the pain of illness and soon return to their families and friends, and continue going to school.

BSCK2 Pham Thanh Viet, Deputy Director in charge of management and operations at Cho Ray Hospital, said that the 30 children who were able to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival were very special patients of the unit.

Specifically, although this place is a specialized multidisciplinary medical facility for adults, it has two departments with pediatric patients: Neurosurgery (4 children) and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Resuscitation (26 children).

These are children with special medical conditions, or need intensive emergency care to survive the danger, so they are cared for very closely by medical staff.

Cho Ray Hospital's leaders believe that, in addition to professional work, organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival is not simply about giving material gifts but also a source of spiritual encouragement.

In particular, in addition to gifts for each individual, the organizers also designed light music and circus programs, creating space for "little warriors" to arrange cranes, draw watercolors, etc.

This is the affirmation of the doctors that even though they are in the process of treatment, the children still receive the attention and love of everyone right at the treatment place, so as not to be disadvantaged compared to their peers who are "celebrating the full moon" at home.

Joining the joy of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Cho Ray Hospital also gave gifts to 33 orphans during the Covid-19 season that the unit is sponsoring.

This is a regular activity that the Board of Directors of Cho Ray Hospital pays attention to, aiming to contribute to the care, material support and spiritual support for children in unfortunate circumstances during the past pandemic.

At Gia Dinh People's Hospital, on October 3, the "Mid-Autumn Festival of Love" program also took place for about 50 children being treated at the unit.

Many hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City have decorated lanterns in treatment areas to help patients celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (Photo: Hospital).

Participating in the program, children will be able to decorate lanterns according to their own ideas, enjoy lion dances to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, or join the "autumn for me" photo corner with Uncle Cuoi and Sister Hang and get free photos.

In addition, you can also enjoy the traditional lion dance performance, creating a joyful and bustling atmosphere. After the lantern making competition ends, all children in Gia Dinh People's Hospital will be given gifts which are the products they made themselves (or decorated), moon cakes, milk, toys, candies, etc.
