On the morning of July 16, the delegation of Lao Cai province led by Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, visited a number of historical relics in Dien Bien province: Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum; Hill A1; De Castries Bunker; Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument.
At the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum, delegates visited the exhibition area displaying historical artifacts of the battle that “resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world”. Through the artifacts, viewers understood more about the arduous yet heroic period of our ancestors when they drove out the French colonialists.

Delegates admired the large-scale Panorama painting “The Battle of Dien Bien Phu” with a total area of 3,225 m2 . The oil painting vividly and emotionally recreates the arduous battles and resounding victories of our army and people in repelling the French colonialists.
The historical site of Hill A1 is a famous place, located in Muong Thanh ward, Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province. This is one of the most important strategic strongholds of the French army. The attack on Hill A1 stronghold took place extremely gloriously, our cadres, soldiers and people showed great fighting spirit, sacrifice, bravery and tenacity to regain every inch of land.
General De Castries' bunker, about 1.5 km northwest of hill A1, is one of 23 special historical relics of the country.
The monument is 12.6 m high, built on a 3.6 m high pedestal, consisting of 12 blocks (some weighing 40 tons), cast from 217 tons of pure copper. This is the tallest, largest and heaviest bronze monument complex in Vietnam today. The model of the monument for construction is the work of sculptor Nguyen Hai (from Cai Be, Tien Giang ). Sculptor Nguyen Hai was once a soldier of the famous Battalion 307.
