Prosecution and temporary detention of former Provincial Party Secretary and former Chairman of Lao Cai

Lao Cai Provincial Police have issued an order to prosecute and arrest Nguyen Van Vinh, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Doan Van Huong, former Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee.

On the evening of May 18, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province informed that, in conducting the investigation of the case of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" that occurred at the People's Committee of Lao Cai province according to the Decision to supplement the Decision to prosecute the criminal case No. 06/QD-CSKT dated June 23, 2022, the Investigation Police Agency, Lao Cai Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute the accused, an Order to arrest the accused for temporary detention and a Order to search the residence and workplace of a number of related people.

Specifically, Lao Cai Provincial Police have issued an order to prosecute, arrest and search the residence of Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, born in 1960; registered permanent residence at No. 025, Cu Chinh Lan Street, Group 10, Bac Cuong Ward, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province; former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Chairman, former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lao Cai Province.

Lao Cai Provincial Police have prosecuted, arrested and searched the residence of Doan Van Huong, born in 1956; registered permanent residence at Group 10, Bac Cuong Ward, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province; former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Chairman, former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lao Cai Province.

Lao Cai Provincial Police have prosecuted, arrested and searched the residence and workplace of Mr. Ngo Duc Hoang, born in 1974, Specialist of the Planning and Finance Department, Vietnam Geological Survey, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment ; registered permanent residence at Group 17, Bac Lenh Ward, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province; currently residing at Room 1505B2, Apartment 505 Minh Khai, Vinh Tuy Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi City.

The above defendants were prosecuted to investigate the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 281 of the 1999 Penal Code.

The above decisions and orders have been approved by the People's Procuracy of Lao Cai province.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency, Lao Cai Provincial Police are coordinating with Lao Cai Provincial People's Procuracy to investigate and clarify according to the provisions of law.
