Prosecution of marketing staff for fraud and appropriation of more than 15 billion VND

On October 30, according to information from the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Duong Province, this unit has decided to prosecute and temporarily detain Vu Ba Hung (32 years old, residing in village 5, Minh Quan commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province, currently living in Co Tan 1 residential area, An Phu ward, Kinh Mon town, Hai Duong province) to investigate the act of using fake seals and documents of organizations and the crime of fraud to appropriate property.

According to the investigation results, from 2016 to 2017, Hung worked as a marketer for energy drinks distributed by High Quality International Products Import Export Trading Company Limited (in Ha Tinh ).

After that, Hung proposed to become an intermediary between the company and distributors and wholesale stores to receive a percentage of the profits. However, after receiving money from customers, Hung did not pay the company but spent it on personal expenses, leading to the inability to pay more than 10 billion VND.

To have money to pay off the company's debt, Hung invited Mr. LVB (residing in Kinh Mon town) to join the energy drink business. Because he had lent Hung money and was paid back both principal and interest, Mr. B. trusted him and transferred a total of 5.2 billion VND to Hung.

Part of this money was used by Hung for business investment, the rest was used to pay off debt and personal expenses.

Around April 2022, knowing that Hung did not use the money to invest in business as agreed and could not immediately repay the money, Mr. B. asked Hung to write a loan contract with collateral. Hung agreed to write a loan paper for 5.2 billion VND, the repayment deadline was June 15, 2022, the collateral was a land use rights certificate that Hung had previously forged and a car.

When the debt was due, Hung was not present and could not be contacted by phone. Realizing he had been scammed, Mr. B. filed a complaint with the police.

The case is being further investigated and clarified by the Hai Duong Provincial Police Department.
