On the evening of August 3, Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh concluded her impressive journey at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore by winning her fourth gold medal in the women's 400m individual medley.

The 18-year-old, who holds the world record in the event, dominated the race, finishing in 4 minutes 25.78 seconds, setting a new championship record.

This time was almost eight seconds faster than the two silver medalists, Jenna Forrester of Australia and Mio Narita of Japan (both clocked 4 minutes 33.26 seconds).

The win also marked McIntosh's third career world title in the 400m individual medley.

McIntosh entered the championships in Singapore aiming to equal American legend Michael Phelps' record of five gold medals in a single world championship.

However, she failed to complete this goal after finishing third in the 800m freestyle, an event in which American swimmer Katie Ledecky won her eighth consecutive title. McIntosh received a bronze medal in this event.

However, finishing the tournament with 4 gold medals, 1 bronze medal and a new tournament record in the 400m individual medley is an extremely impressive achievement for the 18-year-old female swimmer.

The 18-year-old prodigy's other gold medals at this tournament came from the 400m freestyle, 200m butterfly and 200m individual medley.
