Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Dong Anh District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Dung proudly shared: "The ceremony is the 1,085th anniversary of King Ngo Quyen's coronation and establishment of the capital in Co Loa, an opportunity for us to return to our roots, honor and spread the traditional and revolutionary historical and cultural values of our homeland Dong Anh, the cultural heritage values of the special national relic site Co Loa - which was twice the capital of Vietnam".
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Anh district reviewed the historical traditions of this historic land. From the 3rd century BC, Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong united Au Viet and Lac Viet to establish the Au Lac state, choosing Co Loa as the capital. Co Loa became the first Capital - Military - City complex of the nation, the first political , military, economic and cultural center of our country.

1,085 years ago, after the glorious victory, defeating the Southern Han army on the Bach Dang River, in the spring of 939, King Ngo Quyen proclaimed himself King, established the Ngo Dynasty, chose Co Loa as the capital, with the meaning of continuing the nation-building career of the Hung Kings and An Duong Vuong, creating a great turning point in history, completely ending the period of Chinese domination that lasted more than 1,000 years, opening the era of development of an independent, autonomous nation, in Vietnam. With the glorious victory on the Bach Dang River and the proclaimed himself King, establishing the Ngo Dynasty to rule the country from 939 to 944, King Ngo Quyen was honored by history as the founder of the Vietnamese nation.
This is also an opportunity for the people of Dong Anh to be proud, promote the tradition of solidarity and patriotism, express deep gratitude to the generations of ancestors who fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland; affirm the position, great stature, and great historical value of the cause of national restoration of King Ngo Quyen in the history of the struggle to build and defend the country of the Vietnamese people.
"In this solemn, emotional and especially meaningful moment, we respectfully express our deep gratitude to our ancestors who opened and established the Au Lac state and the Ngo royal state," emphasized Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Anh district Nguyen Anh Dung.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Anh district, to express respect and deep gratitude to commemorate the great contributions of King Ngo Quyen - the founder of the country's restoration, an important element for Co Loa to become a special national relic site, over the years, the Party, the State, the authorities at all levels, the people of Dong Anh and the people of Co Loa have always respected, preserved, restored, embellished and promoted the cultural heritage values here.
At the same time, the government and people here always wish to have a Temple to worship King Ngo Quyen, a Heritage Park - a place to forever remember, honor and show gratitude to the King and his ancestors so that people across the country can respectfully offer incense in memory, organize an annual King-proclamation Festival to educate history and promote the nation's cultural traditions.
Accordingly, over the past years, Dong Anh district has proactively proposed and received approval from the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee to select the location and site for the construction of the Temple of King Ngo Quyen, and the Hanoi People's Council has approved the investment policy. The project has a total investment of more than 298.4 billion VND.
Dong Anh district organized a live art program: "Nam Giang in turmoil/The unification of the country" reenacting the life and country-building process of King Ngo Quyen.
Chairman of Dong Anh District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Dung added that, along with the celebration of the 1,085th anniversary of King Ngo Quyen's coronation and establishment of the capital in Co Loa, the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Anh hope that after the completion of the Temple of King Ngo Quyen, the Festival of Ngo Quyen's coronation and establishment of the capital in Co Loa will become an annual traditional cultural festival, held at the Temple on the 12th day of the third lunar month.
This is an official festival with the meaning: It is the birthday of King Ngo Quyen and at the same time carries the meaning of inheriting the national legacy, showing the will to continue the career of building and defending the country during the Van Lang - Au Lac period, right after the death anniversary of Hung King on March 10.
At the celebration, Dong Anh district organized a live art program: "Nam Giang rises in waves/The nation declares its king" recreating the life and country-building process of King Ngo Quyen.
