Strength from a term of solidarity

One of the key factors that created the 'miracle' of Hai Phong in the 2020 - 2025 term, when it was the only locality in the country to maintain a double-digit growth rate for many consecutive years, was the endogenous strength aroused from the spirit of solidarity and unanimity of the people.

The Hai Phong City Red Cross Society has mobilized resources to provide relief to people living in Dong Khe ward, affected by storm Yagi in September 2024.

Pioneering business community

Promoting the role of a bridge, the city's Fatherland Front at all levels has mobilized social resources up to hundreds of billions of VND, supporting medical equipment and necessities, clearly demonstrating the spirit of "Hai Phong for the whole country, the whole country for Hai Phong" during the Covid-19 epidemic. From the call and appeal of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city, dozens of large corporations and enterprises operating in production and business in the area have taken the lead and actively supported the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund of the Port City, such as the following companies: Vietnam Infrastructure and Real Estate Development Corporation (VIPD GROUP) donated 100 billion VND; Hoang Huy Financial Services Investment Corporation contributed 12 billion VND; Van Huong Investment and Services Corporation (Geleximco Group) supported 10 billion VND; Saigon - Hai Phong Industrial Park Corporation sponsored 10 billion VND; Sumidenso Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dai An Industrial Park) donated 500 million VND, Uniden Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Tan Truong Industrial Park) contributed 250 million VND...

In 2024, typhoon Yagi made landfall directly in Hai Phong city, causing total economic damage of nearly 13,000 billion VND (of which, damage in the east of Hai Phong was about 11,000 billion VND, and in the west of the city was more than 1,500 billion VND). In the emergency situation, the City Relief Committee mobilized hundreds of billions of VND to support people in building and repairing houses to overcome the consequences of the storm, restore agricultural production, and encourage businesses to overcome the consequences of the storm, bringing production back to normal.

According to Mr. Pham Van Tuan, General Director of An Phat Group, over the years, An Phat Holdings has actively participated in charity activities, demonstrating social responsibility for the community such as: supporting the construction of gratitude houses for policy families and meritorious people; giving gifts to poor, near-poor households, and disadvantaged families during holidays and Tet; giving scholarships and supporting facilities for schools.

During the Covid-19 outbreak, An Phat Holdings produced and supplied free medical masks to the community and donated medical equipment to hospitals. During the period 2020 - 2022, the company contributed over 30 billion VND to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund, joining hands with the city to repel the epidemic and ensure safety for the people.

In the period of 2024 - 2025, An Phat Holdings contributed 1.5 billion VND to carry out activities to overcome the consequences of typhoon Yagi; donated 1.5 billion VND to Hai Phong city to renovate cemeteries, to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs.

From the pioneering and pioneering role of the business community, Hai Phong has overcome difficulties in the “fire tests”, affirming the great value brought by the strength of great solidarity. The city maintains a good growth momentum, each of the city’s decisions always receives consensus and high support from the people.

With a large number of union members and members from socio-political organizations and member associations, the Fatherland Front system at all levels in Hai Phong city has all the core elements to build a great national unity bloc. Mr. Dinh Van Truy, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, Chairman of the Veterans Association of the city, informed: Over the past 5 years, the officers and members of the Veterans Association have mobilized their families to donate nearly 900,000 ^m2 of land, participated in more than 500,000 working days, planted hundreds of thousands of trees; supported and contributed over 90 billion VND to build roads and public works.

Responding to the movements "The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind", "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", the City Veterans Association at all levels mobilized cadres, members, businesses and philanthropists to contribute 13 billion VND to help build and repair 328 houses for veteran members in especially difficult circumstances...

Political and social units and organizations join hands to build "Great Unity" houses for disadvantaged households in Dong Hai ward.

At the grassroots level, the great strength of the great national unity bloc is also clearly and strongly demonstrated. According to Mr. Le Van Tram, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Sach commune, people in the commune actively participated in supporting the "Repaying gratitude" Fund, "Fund for the poor"... Thanks to that, in the past term, in the commune, 25 "Great unity" houses were newly built and repaired; more than 1,200 gifts were given to people in sudden difficulties, with a total value of more than 900 million VND. Models of helping each other to do good economic activities and join hands to build new rural areas will continue to be implemented synchronously in the coming time, mobilizing all classes of people in the commune to participate.

The results of the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses are a typical and concrete proof of the spreading power of the people's will. In the west of Hai Phong, the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses was completed 2.5 months earlier than the Government's target, 1,452 policy households were able to build new or repair houses, with a total program cost of nearly 327.2 billion VND. At the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, in the east of Hai Phong, 897 cases were supported with funding to build and repair houses after Typhoon Yagi, with a total amount of nearly 80 billion VND.

Towards the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day, the Hai Phong City Fatherland Front Committee has issued a plan to support the construction of 190 "Great Unity" houses for poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties in the city, with a total budget of 19 billion VND from the city's "For the Poor" Fund. Each "Great Unity" house is supported with a construction budget of 100 million VND and strives to complete the handover of the house before November 18, 2025.

“With a high sense of responsibility, the City Fatherland Front and its member organizations pledge to continue to strongly innovate in organization and methods of operation, promote the role of the people as the main subject, take the viewpoint of focusing on the grassroots and residential areas as a guideline for action, ensuring that the Front's activities are closer to reality and the people. Continuously consolidate and build the strength of great national unity to contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term,” said Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the City Fatherland Front Committee.
