(Fatherland) - On January 8, 2025, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with Hong Bang International University to organize the final round of the "Students with Startup Ideas" Competition at the city level for the 2024-2025 school year.
This year's final round gathered 20 excellent projects, selected from 185 preliminary projects from 200 high schools, middle schools, vocational education and continuing education centers in Ho Chi Minh City. The competition promotes entrepreneurial spirit, equips students with knowledge and practical skills, helping them confidently realize creative startup ideas.

This year's competition recorded the largest number of participating schools ever, demonstrating that the entrepreneurial spirit has spread strongly among young people. This is also the first year that the Organizing Committee has expanded the number of participants, organizing a separate final round for startup projects at the secondary school level, contributing to the early development of creative thinking for students. Many interesting creative projects were entered by students in the competition, in 5 fields: (1) Industry, product manufacturing; (2) Agriculture, forestry, fishery; (3) Education, tourism, services, finance; (4) Health , health care, beauty technology; (5) Business creating social impact. The 10 best projects will be selected to participate in the national "Students with startup ideas" competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
Speaking at the opening of the final round of the competition, Mr. Duong Tri Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that the competition is a good opportunity for students to increase communication, learning, and exchange experiences with friends, promoting innovation and start-up activities in high schools. Schools need to continue to spread and promote start-up education activities to help students have a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to enter higher education levels, while contributing many initiatives to develop the city's economy in general, and the family and individual economy in particular.

Mr. Duong Tri Dung also highly appreciated the cooperation and companionship of the schools, along with the school's team of experts in organizing and supporting start-up projects for students in the past two competition seasons. Notably, Ho Chi Minh City has 3 teams selected to participate in the National Start-up Competition for the 2023-2024 school year, all of which won first and second prizes.
"With proper guidance, support and valuable experience from the team of lecturers and experts, the teams can carry out the competition project appropriately and promote the qualities of each student, each team and each school. Hopefully, in the near future, there will be more coordination and connection activities between the city's school units and businesses, creating an educational and start-up environment for the city's students, to ensure the common goal of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Government for innovation and start-up activities among students and teenagers," Mr. Duong Tri Dung emphasized.

Along with the startup competition is the "Student Startup Support Day" in Ho Chi Minh City in the 2024-2025 school year. This activity aims to equip students with knowledge, skills and promote entrepreneurial spirit; promote scientific research activities, digital transformation, and the formation of startup projects in educational institutions. This will be a playground and an opportunity for students to access career information directly from experts, providing a balance between theory and practice; cultivate important skills such as: communication, teamwork, problem solving, and presentation/presentation/criticism thinking - key factors for success in all professions and startups.
