With the unit's specific mission of training, combat readiness, and construction of high-demand projects, the Party Committee and Brigade commanders focus on comprehensive and synchronous leadership and direction of all aspects of work. In particular, building a politically strong Brigade is an important foundation to improve the quality of training, combat readiness, and perform all tasks well.

The Brigade regularly disseminates and strictly implements resolutions and directives from above on building a clean and strong Party organization. The unit promotes political education , dissemination and education of the law, the glorious tradition of the Brigade, the 12th Army Corps and the Engineer Corps, providing correct orientation and building a high sense of responsibility for the troops. Every year, 100% of Party committees and organizations successfully complete their tasks, of which over 95% of Party members successfully complete their tasks. Cadres and Party members have a strong political stance, showing no signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics or lifestyle.

Implementing the policy of building a "lean, compact, strong" Army, the 299th Engineer Brigade has stepped up the organization and staffing, improved the quality of training, and combat readiness. Colonel Dinh Tuan Anh, Brigade Commander of the 299th Brigade, said that the Brigade also regularly builds and supplements the system of documents and combat readiness plans, organizes joint training and exercises at the Corps level, ensuring engineering in modern combat. Training and fostering of cadres - especially young cadres and direct training cadres - is organized systematically, contributing to improving the capacity of organizing, commanding, training, and operating troops.

During the training process, the Brigade adheres to the motto of "basic, practical, solid", conducting comprehensive, focused, key training, close to the target, location, requirements, tasks, organization, and equipment. For commanders and agencies, training focuses on improving the level of combat command and staff, methods of organizing, directing, training, and practicing. In addition, the unit has renewed and upgraded thousands of models and training tools to meet the increasingly high requirements of modern engineering techniques. From 2020 to now, the Brigade has had 32 initiatives and technical improvements accepted, of which 5 initiatives were rated excellent at the Corps level, and 27 grassroots initiatives were effectively applied.

Lieutenant Colonel Doan Van Trong, Battalion Commander of Battalion 2 (Brigade 299) said: "The Battalion thoroughly grasps and correctly implements the Brigade Commander's directive of combining construction with training, in accordance with actual conditions, especially specialized training. Thanks to that, the plan and content are seriously implemented, and the quality of training is constantly improved."

Identifying the building of discipline and training as a breakthrough, the Brigade has widely deployed the movement "Building a beautiful lifestyle, training iron discipline" throughout the unit. Cadres and party members uphold the spirit of being exemplary, strictly implementing regulations, rules, work, study and living routines. The unit strictly manages the number of troops, weapons and equipment, especially the units participating in the construction of national defense works. Thanks to that, for many years, the Brigade has not had any serious violations of discipline, the rate of normal violations is always below 0.2% of the troops.

Sergeant Bui Van Linh, Squad Leader of Squad 4, Platoon 2, Company 1, Battalion 1 (Brigade 299) expressed: “From the first day of joining the army, we were thoroughly indoctrinated about a regular lifestyle and obeying orders. As a Squad Leader, I always remind the soldiers in the squad to strictly follow discipline, considering it the basis for completing all tasks well.”

With the motto of combining training with construction, Brigade 299 is gradually improving the overall quality of training, combat readiness and construction. Each officer and soldier clearly defines their roles and responsibilities, strictly follows discipline, and ensures safety, especially when performing special tasks such as building defense works. These results are the basis for the Brigade to continue improving the quality of training and mastering modern engineering techniques.
