During a training session on how to handle a situation where a UAV appears at the training ground, Sergeant Pham Hoang Dat, Battery Commander of Battery 1, Platoon 1, Company 9, Battalion 3 (Air Defense Brigade 77) commanded the troops to quickly respond and put the artillery into combat readiness.

However, through many training sessions, Sergeant Pham Hoang Dat organized for the troops to practice additional content "Combat operations, measuring fixed and mobile distances". After practicing additional content, the battery handled the situations well, quickly destroyed the target, and did not miss the opportunity. Obviously, learning new things and reviewing old things is one of many measures to improve training and combat readiness of the 77th Air Defense Brigade in recent times.

Nowadays, as modern warfare forms are increasingly complex and diverse, the task of protecting the Fatherland's airspace, especially in the South, places increasingly high demands on the army's air defense force. Based on the direction of the Military Region 7 Command, the Brigade has deployed training according to the motto "Basic, practical, solid", associated with good implementation of "Three realities" in training: Reality in content, reality in testing and reality in evaluating results.

Training contents are always organized flexibly, linked to mission requirements, local characteristics and simulated combat situations. In 2025, the Brigade successfully organized many long-term field training sessions, night training and realistic exercises, notably "Combined round drills at squad level", "Command drills at one side, one level on the map with receiving reserve soldiers". Thereby, the units improved their mobility, flexible situation handling, precise and effective combat coordination in complex terrain and weather conditions.

In addition, special situation handling contents such as dealing with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), electronic warfare, and high-tech attack weapons are also integrated into training, helping soldiers get acquainted, adapt, and improve their fighting skills in the modern war environment. Units increase night training, training in hypothetical situations, new terrain, changing weather, combining long-distance marches and heavy loads, to comprehensively train soldiers. The Brigade focuses on proactively grasping the enemy, monitoring air activities, accurately handling situations, and selecting units as models, promoting technical innovation initiatives applied to training.
During the training process, the Party Committee and the Brigade commanders deployed many creative and effective training models to improve military training associated with political education and physical training, discipline, building the mettle of revolutionary soldiers and promptly overcoming limitations. Typical models include the model "Every night a question, a useful political answer", helping soldiers consolidate their knowledge of politics, law, tradition, and unit tasks; the model "Three readiness" (readiness in terms of people; readiness in terms of weapons and equipment; readiness in terms of combat plans); the model "5 exemplary Youth Union members" associated with building the qualities, lifestyles and responsibilities of Youth Union members in the Army environment... Through these models, the Brigade not only improves the quality of political and ideological education, but also creates a vibrant and healthy competitive environment, contributing to building a strong and comprehensive unit that goes into solid depth.
Colonel Nguyen Duc Phong, Brigade Commander of the 77th Air Defense Brigade, said: “Determining cadres as a breakthrough in improving the quality of training, the Brigade regularly organizes training courses for cadres at all levels. The content focuses on the capacity to organize training, drills, handle technical and tactical situations, grasp the psychology of troops and manage discipline.”
Accordingly, in recent times, the Brigade has directed the organization of good experience sharing sessions, forums, and exchanges on training work, creating conditions for officers to share practical experiences, exchange creative solutions, and update new training methods in combat with high-tech weapons and modern forms and environments of warfare. Through that, officers have promoted their roles and responsibilities in training work at the unit, playing the core role in organizing sports, competitions, and drills at company, battalion and the entire Brigade levels.
In addition to the regular force, the Brigade also focuses on organizing training and exercises for reserve mobilization units. Through tactical exercises, reserve units are strengthened in organization, improve coordination and combat coordination, ensure reception and readiness to participate in combat in all situations, contributing to promoting the combined strength of the people's air defense posture in the defense area.
Maintaining a serious training routine, linked to combat practice, along with appropriate models and initiatives, has practically improved training and combat readiness. From the beginning of 2025 until now, the training inspection brigade has 100% meeting requirements, over 80% good, 50% excellent, the unit is safe, officers and soldiers strictly follow discipline.
