In September 2025, at the training ground with unpredictable rain and sunshine in the Southeast region, the firm and decisive steps of the young soldiers of the 77th Air Defense Brigade (Military Region 7) seemed to be carving into the ground the marks of bravery, intelligence and spirit of shock.

In that formation, Sergeant Dao Tuan Khang, Battery Commander of Battery 7, Company 8, (Battalion 3, Air Defense Brigade 77) stood out with his determined eyes, clear voice and skillful training movements. Khang was considered by the Company 8 Youth Union as a "5 exemplary" member that the Brigade's youth are actively implementing.

"A model member is not perfect, but knows how to strive to complete his daily tasks well," Khang shared after a test session of shooting down low-flying aircraft at the anti-aircraft artillery site.

Under the guidance of battalion officers and close supervision of the Youth Union, Khang has repeatedly achieved excellent scores in training, been commended by the unit, and is always attentive in guiding his teammates to practice skills in training.

Colonel Luong Khac Quang, Political Commissar of the 77th Air Defense Brigade, shared: “After more than 5 years of implementing the model, the training awareness and emulation spirit of the members have been significantly improved. The atmosphere in the branches is more exciting and positive, from training to activities and work, everything is in order and effective. The model has helped each branch and member to correctly assess their level of completion and register training content for each month and quarter with realistic content, focusing on weaknesses and limitations. As a result, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the Brigade has had more than 97% of its members meeting the criteria of "5 exemplary" members, with many typical and advanced individuals appearing, and no members or young people violating discipline.”

Not only stopping at training in manners and discipline, the Brigade also effectively promotes the model "Every night a question, a useful political answer". The questions are designed to be concise, close, and related to contents such as: Behavioral situations, daily discipline, Military Service Law, traditional history, current events...

Union members not only study politics but also practice quick reflexes, speaking and debating skills. The most obvious effect is that union members' political awareness is enhanced, discipline violations are reduced, initiative in study and work is increased, and a strong character is built.

In line with the central political mission, the model of “Model Training Company” is deployed synchronously throughout the Brigade. Accordingly, the branches of the selected companies must meet the criteria: strict discipline, good training, orderly activities...

The Brigade effectively maintains the model of “Cadres and Party members guiding the masses and subordinates”, combining with the Youth Union organization to assign and mentor young soldiers and soldiers with limited skills. Each outstanding cadre and Youth Union member mentors 1-2 soldiers with difficulties in perception, circumstances, and ideology, helping these soldiers to be steadfast in training and mature in character.

In particular, the “couples” who mentor each other are evaluated periodically and promptly commended. The model not only increases comradeship, but also discovers many new factors for the Party’s development source in the unit.

In addition, the Youth Union activities always have their own nuances, both political and close, connected with the thoughts and feelings of soldiers. Activities such as "Air defense soldiers with the sky of the Fatherland", "Political discussion at the beginning of the week", "Smoke-free Youth Union", "Comrades' birthdays"... are organized regularly and creatively.

The Brigade ensures cultural institutions, promotes competitions, and promotes the role of the Youth Union cadres. Thereby, each meeting is an opportunity for members to show their talents, from writing poems, painting, telling traditional stories, to performing short plays and singing competitions, contributing to creating a useful playground, relieving stress after training hours, and increasing solidarity among teammates and units.
