Most of the criticism came from fans of the original, who felt that the new Little House on the Prairie could never live up to the original, which left viewers with so many fond memories.
Faced with this, recently, the two main actors of the old film, Dean Butler and Alison Arngrim, spoke up to calm public opinion and firmly believe that this new project will not tarnish the legacy of the much-loved 1974 TV series.

In an interview with Remind , Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson in the original, said she heard both support and criticism when the new project was about to launch. "I heard two opinions, either, 'Oh my gosh. They've remade it. It's the best thing that's ever happened,' or people who immediately rejected it. They said, 'The original was perfect, so let's not do it.'"
Original series by Laura Wilder
According to Arngrim, the upcoming series will not be the same as the previous one, but will be more faithful to the original series by Laura Wilder. She also hopes that her revelation will ease the anxiety, especially for the ardent fans of the franchise.
Butler, who played Almanzo in the original series, shared a similar reaction, saying the upcoming version will not attempt to recreate Michael Landon's work, but instead offer a truly "different" experience for modern audiences.
He elaborated: "There's no way to replicate exactly what Michael did. Michael is Michael. He's a creative force and brought this timeless series to life. And I'm confident the next team will have the same impact."
Arngrim also revealed that none of the actors from the original series will be returning for the new season, but she said she would be open to guest appearances. "I've been joking for years that as a young girl, I was ready to play Mrs. Oleson."
