Expanding Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway to 8-10 lanes

On August 19, construction began on the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway to 8-10 lanes and is expected to be completed in December 2026.

On August 12, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) said that on August 19, it will start construction to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway to 8-10 lanes and is expected to be completed in December 2026.

According to the approval decision, the route of the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway will be extended to both sides along the existing road. The section passing through Long Thanh Bridge will be extended to the right side of the route (downstream).

The project has a total investment of 14,945 billion VND, with VEC as the governing body, investor and direct implementation and management. In terms of scale, the section from the Ring Road 2 intersection to the Ring Road 3 intersection, 4.8 km long, will be expanded from 4 lanes to 8 lanes. The section from the Ring Road 3 intersection to the intersection with Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, 14.7 km long, will be expanded from 4 lanes to 10 lanes. For Long Thanh Bridge, a new bridge unit with a complete scale of 5 lanes will be built in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh, on the right side of the existing bridge.

Regarding construction progress, the project is being implemented as an emergency construction project, with Long Thanh bridge's main bridge to be completed in December 2026 and the remaining items to be completed in March 2027.
