Expanding the tourism market

The program to welcome the first flight of Malaysia Airlines to Da Nang city took place at the International Arrivals Terminal, Da Nang International Airport. Within the framework of the program, there was a water spraying ceremony, a welcome art performance, flowers and gifts for the first passengers, and souvenir photos.

According to Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of Da Nang city: Malaysia is always in the top 10 international markets to Da Nang city.

In August 2024, the city's leadership delegation had a working trip to Malaysia, meeting and working with Malaysia Airlines to promote and advertise Da Nang tourism in general and the Kuala Lumpur-Da Nang route in particular.

“In the coming time, the tourism industry of Da Nang city will continue to coordinate with Malaysia Airlines to organize Famtrips, presstrips, and KOLs to experience Da Nang tourism and support communication activities to promote Da Nang to Malaysian tourists,” Mr. Vuong added.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang City Tourism Association, said that Malaysia Airlines opening a flight route to Da Nang has an important meaning in promoting tourism in Da Nang city as well as opening up the possibility of exploiting the tourism market from Da Nang to other countries, especially the European market.

The Malaysian tourist market currently ranks 3rd among the nationalities of visitors to Da Nang along with Korea, Taiwan (China) and Thailand. Becoming a major source of visitors to Da Nang, the compatibility is very good with the destination, infrastructure, and service system of Da Nang.

Malaysia Airlines currently has a very good flight network, arguably the best in Southeast Asia, to Da Nang and Vietnam. Opening up a very large tourist market for Da Nang to exploit markets that are both very potential and very new for Da Nang in the near future.

Malaysia Airlines operates the Kuala Lumpur-Da Nang route with a frequency of 7 flights/week using B737-800 aircraft. With the addition of Malaysia Airlines, the Kuala Lumpur-Da Nang route has a frequency of 28 flights/week.

Da Nang city's tourism industry hopes that Malaysia Airlines will be a bridge to help Da Nang city expand its tourism market to attractive destinations around the world .
