The final match of the 1st Dong Thap University Open Student Football Tournament 2025 between the team of Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports and Dong Thap University on July 27 was very dramatic and exciting. Coach Pham Thai Vinh's team took the lead thanks to Tran Thanh Tu's goal. But that joy did not last long when the home team equalized 1-1 thanks to Nguyen Vo Quoc Yen's goal. After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, the two teams went to the penalty shootout and the team from Ho Chi Minh City was luckier when they won 9/8 after the 10th penalty shootout.
The team from the University of Physical Education and Sports in Ho Chi Minh City was deservedly crowned champion. The team, who had won the Vietnam Youth Student Championship, played confidently and coherently, withstanding the pressure of the host at some points, and finally had the courage to defeat their opponents on penalties.

In more than 10 days, the tournament ended successfully when all teams played with dedication, the matches were quite attractive and exciting. The audience cheered in large numbers, creating a festival-like atmosphere at Dong Thap University. This is the premise for the school's Board of Directors to promote the football movement in schools, towards establishing a club and improving the quality of tournaments in the future. In the near future, the school will apply to host the qualifying round of the Vietnam Youth Student Tournament organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper in early 2026.
