An e-commerce platform has taken over the throne of a technology car company in the food delivery 'territory'.

Most users know about the popularity of Grab when ordering and delivering food online in Vietnam, but the leading position belongs to an e-commerce platform.

On July 8, according to a survey conducted by NielsenIQ, ShopeeFood is the online food ordering platform with the highest number of orders (within 7 days), accounting for 56% of the total number of orders. Next is GrabFood with 36% and BeFood with 8%...

Another independent survey conducted by Decision Lab also showed that ShopeeFood is the food delivery application with the highest market share of 49% in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.

In addition to market share, NielsenIQ's survey results also show that ShopeeFood is the online food ordering platform that users first recognize (Top of mind) with 50% of 800 respondents ordering food online through online food ordering and delivery platforms during the survey period.

Meanwhile, a report on food delivery platforms in Southeast Asia published by Momentum Works in February this year said that the total transaction value of the food delivery market in Vietnam will reach 1.8 billion USD in 2024.

In particular, Vietnam is the fastest growing country in Southeast Asia, with 26% compared to 2023, increasing GMV (total merchandise transaction value) from 1.4 billion USD to 1.8 billion USD.

Growth contributors identified by Momentum Works include expanding customer segments, service areas, and synergies with platform business partners.

Also according to Momentum Works' report, in 2024, Grab will still be the leading platform in the food delivery market in Vietnam with 48% market share. ShopeeFood follows closely with 47% market share, BeFood accounts for 4%...
