"Red Rain" leads box office revenue for 4 consecutive weeks

Despite facing direct competition from many new films released in theaters, "Red Rain" still maintains its appeal and holds the No. 1 position at the box office.

According to the independent box office website Box Office Vietnam (with a certain margin of error), over the last 3 days of the weekend (from September 12 to 14), Red Rain earned more than 48 billion VND with 504,248 tickets sold and 8,223 screenings.

As of 8:15 a.m. on September 15, Red Rain had achieved total revenue of more than 650 billion VND.

On September 15, the film still maintained the number 1 position on the box office chart with daily revenue reaching more than 1.8 billion VND.

Last week, the box office continued to be vibrant. The horror film The Conjuring: Last Rites earned more than 22.6 billion VND in its first week of release. The film ranked second in the number of screenings, with 5,456 screenings. The film currently has a total revenue of more than 23.6 billion VND.

At the North American box office, the film dropped to number 2 with a revenue of more than 26.1 billion VND. The film currently has a total global revenue of more than 332 million USD.

Last week, Getting Rich with Ghosts 2: Diamond War dropped one place compared to the previous week, the film earned nearly 8.7 billion VND with more than 98,000 tickets sold. Director Trung Lun's work has currently reached nearly 92 billion VND in revenue and is approaching the 100 billion VND milestone. Previously, Getting Rich with Ghosts, released in August 2024, earned more than 128 billion VND.

A new Vietnamese film released last week, The Contract to Sell Brides, did not have an expected start. The film had an opening week revenue of over 8.1 billion VND. Director Le Van Kiet's work currently has a revenue of over 10.1 billion VND.

In the top 5 box office revenue last week, ranked 5th was Monster Gang 2 but only achieved revenue of less than 1 billion VND.

This week, the Vietnamese box office promises to continue its excitement. The biggest highlight is Death Battle in the Air - the first work of Vietnamese cinema to exploit the topic of hijacking, inspired by a real plane hijacking in Vietnam after 1975. The film by director Ham Tran has the participation of the cast: Thai Hoa, Kaithy Nguyen, Thanh Son, Xuan Phuc, Vo Dien Gia Huy, Tran Ngoc Vang, Ma Ran Do, Loi Tran, Tram Anh, Xuan Van, Bao Dinh, Ray Nguyen...

In addition, there are 2 horror movies coming out this week including Cut Finger Comedy and Hundred Miles of Death .
