According to statistics from the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), as of 5 p.m. today, September 28, the floods at the end of September have caused many losses in human lives, property, and crops in the northern and central provinces.
Floods kill 3, leave 3 missing, and damage thousands of hectares of crops
Specifically, 3 people died (1 person in Quang Tri died from lightning, 1 boy in Thanh Hoa slipped and fell into the stream while playing near Don stream, 1 person died from being swept away by flood at Bung stream, Hoa Binh ); 3 people are missing in Son La.
Regarding property, 24 houses were flooded, 60 houses were isolated (Hoa Binh); 2 houses collapsed (Quang Ninh); 75 houses were damaged by landslides (Hoa Binh 49, Son La 6, Yen Bai 1, Lao Cai 19, Phu Tho 3); 14,782 hectares of rice were destroyed; 7,213 hectares of crops were flooded, 3,717 hectares of crops were damaged.
Regarding irrigation, 2 dike landslide locations in Hanoi include: 5m landslide of the right dike of Bui (level IV) at the upstream location of the culvert through the dike of Ly Nhan pumping station (Nam Phuong Tien commune, Chuong My district). Currently, the locality has handled the stretching of canvas and filling of soil; landslide of the upstream slope of the left dike of Day (level I) with a length of 10m at K48+850 - K48+860 (Vien Noi commune, Ung Hoa district). This is a dike section within the scope of the urgent treatment project in 2023 invested by the District People's Committee.
Regarding transportation, heavy rains and floods caused serious landslides in some provinces of Lao Cai, Phu Tho, and Hoa Binh. In Lao Cai province, landslides occurred in 5 locations on National Highway 4D, 33 locations on provincial roads, and 20 locations on district and commune roads. In Yen Bai, landslides occurred in some locations on the main axis of Tram Tau district.

In Phu Tho, landslides occurred in some locations in Yen Lap district. In Hoa Binh, landslides occurred in 2 locations on National Highway 6, National Highway 21 route Y1 Km11+600, water level was 0.4 m high on the road surface, vehicles could not pass; in addition, some provincial roads were flooded and locally eroded, currently the transport sector is working to restore the route.
