There are a total of five medal events on the first day of competition at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, with the highlight being the 4x400m mixed relay (2 men, 2 women).

16 teams participated in this event, including China. But the main opponent of the US team in this event is England.

The four American runners include Deadmon, Irby-Jackson, McKiver and Holmes. Except for McKiver, the other three have worked together to bring back consecutive Olympic and world gold medals for the US over the years.

This time the US team still finished first with a total time of 3 minutes 10.18 seconds. The British team finished just 0.04 seconds behind.

Meanwhile, China languished in 14th place with 3 minutes 13.96 seconds, far behind the level of Western teams.

In addition to the relay team, the US also won another gold medal thanks to shot putter Ryan Crouser - who is on a streak of 3 consecutive Olympic championships.

Crouser achieved 22.34m, far surpassing the runner-up, Mexico's Uziel Munoz, at 21.97m.

Besides the US, the countries with gold medals on the opening day of the tournament were Canada, Spain and Kenya, all in their strong events: men's 35km walk, women's 35km walk and 10,000m run.

Today (September 14), the tournament will enter the medal race in two extremely attractive events: the men's 100m run and the women's 100m run.
