A high court in the US state of Michigan has ruled against a petition to disqualify former President Donald Trump from the state's primary election, scheduled to take place on February 27, 2024.
According to CNBC, Mr. Trump's name still appeared on the ballot in the Michigan primary election. Previously, on December 19, the Colorado state court eliminated Mr. Trump from the primary election of this state.
Last September, an advocacy organization called Free Speech For People, representing a group of voters, filed a complaint in a Michigan state court. The group invoked the 14th Amendment to disqualify Mr. Trump from the 2024 presidential election in this state because he was involved in the riot that occurred on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021, and attempted to change the results of the 2020 presidential election. Currently, former President Trump is still leading in the race to become the only Republican candidate to run for US President in 2024.
