Nem chua is among the top spicy dishes in the world.

Appetizer made from pork and spices fermented for 3-5 days is the only representative of Vietnam named in the list of the world's best chili dishes.

On February 9, the world-famous culinary website Taste Atlas announced a list of the 52 best chili dishes in the world. Nem chua ranked 50th and is the only culinary representative from Vietnam.

Culinary experts say that Nem Chua is “a traditional Vietnamese dish”, made from fermented and salted meat. Nem Chua is usually made from minced pork mixed with shredded pork skin, spices, chili and garlic. The mixture is then wrapped in banana leaves and left to ferment for 3-5 days. The dish has a sweet, salty, spicy and sour taste, often used as an appetizer or snack, dipped in chili sauce or grilled. Nem Chua is popular during the Lunar New Year in some provinces across the country such as Thanh Hoa, Dong Thap .

Asian dishes also made the list, including Chinese Chongqing lemongrass and chili chicken, Indonesian Ikan bakar grilled fish, Thai “nam phrik” chili sauce, and Thai green curry Gaeng kiew.

The Top 52 were voted by experts and diners based on criteria such as being famous, having local specialties, having special flavors and being loved by many people. The list is a suggestion for tourists who love to explore cuisine to enjoy on their upcoming trip.
