Russia speaks out regarding the West, Türkiye explains secret talks

On August 24, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized that there are no signs that Western countries respect the terms of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The above statement was made by Mr. Lavrov at the 15th BRICS summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) in South Africa.

Last month, Moscow pulled out of the deal, which had allowed grain exports from Ukrainian Black Sea ports.

Russia said the international community had failed to ensure Moscow could also ship its grain and fertilizer exports under the deal, due to the impact of Western sanctions.

Regarding this agreement, on August 22, Turkey affirmed that it did not conduct any secret negotiations on the agreement.

"We are aware of some reports in the Western media about some secret negotiations taking place. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Ankara is working on resuming the grain deal, taking into account the expectations of all parties," the source said.
