Tourism industry expects good growth thanks to new tools

LIVE Framework is an interactive, user-friendly tool that helps businesses, organizations and governments access timely and accurate information.

On November 20, the Australian government launched a new digital dashboard called the LIVE Framework (Vertical Indicators for the Visitor Economy ), to measure the development of Australia's tourism industry through a series of economic, environmental, social and institutional indicators.

In fact, the Australian Government has always valued the value of tourism to regions and communities across Australia, so the Government hopes the launch of this new digital dashboard will help quantify this contribution.

The LIVE Framework is an interactive, user-friendly tool that helps businesses, organizations and governments access timely and accurate information, enabling them to make earlier and more informed commercial and programmatic decisions.

While Australia has long measured tourism benefits in terms of visitor numbers, spending and employment, the LIVE Framework goes beyond purely economic metrics to understand Australia’s visitor economy, giving researchers, industry, experts and governments the ability to more accurately track and measure the overall health, contribution and sustainable growth of the travel and tourism sector, and make better decisions.

There are 21 indicators in the first release of the LIVE Framework, providing insights into a range of topics such as international flight capacity to Australia, perceptions of Australia as an accessible tourism destination and tourism-related greenhouse gas emissions compared to other countries. The need for better and broader indicators is a key action outlined in the THRIVE 2030 national strategy for the travel and tourism industry.

Australian Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell encourages all tourism industry players to test the new LIVE Framework dashboard and start using the insights available.
